I'm not doing bad on the low carb. Day 3 I think now. Yesterday:-
Breakfast: Pint water - 2 eggs scrambled in butter with a tomato and some cheese melted over - pint water and meds
Snack: My family just do 1 meal a day, I simply can't do it. Stick of woody celery with sour cream as forgot to get Mayo.
Lunch: Pint water and I'm ashamed to say 4 lamb chops, I know! I'm just so greedy. They were delicious with Brussels Sprouts with butter on.
Dinner: Tuna Salad and sour cream again which I'm not keen on, it was all very dry but needs must at least I wasn't eating the jelly in the fridge though I was encouraged to do so. :D I think these are mutant blackberries, massive, I ate a very lot.

Today lunch, sorry no photo

3 egg cheese omelette, 8 strawberries with a Greek low fat yogurt

14.6g carbs

My lunch today. Cheese and pickle omelette sandwich ( yes I have weird food combo tastes  )
About 38g carbs so ok for me. If I don't have some carbs for lunch I may head to hypo land by mid afternoon. Thank you gliclazide! No strawberries, I have picked them all.:(

Morning all. Yesterday was a wakeup call for me. After a lifetime of back problems, my osteopath thinks I need a hip replacement. GP requested an X-Ray, which shows severe degeneration of hip and spine. and has sent me for physiotherapy. I know that's standard procedure although I don't see that it will help after 53 years of treatment and exercise. But the kicker is, I need to get my BMI under 28. So time to get really serious about weight loss, and it will no doubt help my diabetes as well.

1040 cals, 60.4gm carbs of which 35.3gm sugars.

B: 2 egg mushroom omelette (0.3gm carbs)

L: Chicken salad (8.6gm carbs)

D: Cod mornay, boiled potato, carrots, peas, beans (35.0gm carbs)

S: Peppermint tea (0.6gm carbs)

Plus: Semi skimmed milk, cholesterol lowering drink and Fybogel (12.8gm carbs)

Your right mate the physio will do nothing but they have to go though the system. My BMI was well over 28 and I had my left side done last year, made a massive difference to my movement and most of all comfort. Hope you get it done soon mate

While I would not dream of questioning your eating habits re carbs I do wonder if the medical professionals have any idea of how difficult it is to live with some of the daft parameters that they come up with / how to cope daily with carbs AND life!!!!!! They seem to be completely unaware that Diabetes does not have a rule book to stick to . I admire your eating plan it's much healthier than mine and more carbs. I hope that you can argue the hip replacement........xxxx

My neighbour has had hip replacement and his BMI was certainly not below 28. Probably better if it is but if it increases you mobility that has to be good.
There things are often chicken and egg, easier to lose weight with better mobility but can get the treatment which will help until you do.

I'm staying with nephew and it's a carb filled house so I struggle sometimes to find something suitable. I'm going to have to get my own stuff. I just wish I had more money. :D Doesn't everybody? I scrabbled around and found a can of Tuna in the cupboard so ignoring the mercury threats I had that and mixed a can of Garden Peas in with it, the whole can, I luvs peas and I found a bit of Broccoli in the fridge. It looked horrendous but tasted scrummy and my bg is coming down so must be okay. I wish I could cook. If wishes were horses...

I think I had a blob of mayo with it. A great big plateful, this is only part of the plate. I'm just so greedy.

I had my diabetic review today, and as my HbA1c has risen slightly, we have come up with a 3 month plan. (The result of a holiday and 75th birthday celebrations!). I need to lose weight to qualify for a hip replacement, and my friend needs to also lose weight for her knee replacement. So we are becoming weight loss buddies. I am aiming for one pound a week and she is looking at half a pound. If I lose the weight it should help reduce my HbA1c.

Good luck with your 3 month weight loss plan. Having a buddy is a great idea. Fingers crossed that you will be able to get your hip replacement arranged soon.
