90% Cocoa Chocolate

I was disappointed in Aldi the other day they had no 70% + dark chocolate as is recommended by ZOE for health purposes. They say the higher percent of cacau the better but more difficult to eat. I find I can't even do 85%. I do prefer Milk chocolate but the dark chocolate for health only. I am thinking just getting the cacau powder to add to chia seed almond milk apparently that makes a good chocolate pudding also 🙂

Am back to 100% dark chocolate, the only way for me to keep my chocolate eating under control. Have also introduced mini magnums, but at weekends. I just have way too much of a sweet tooth, but don't want to deny myself some of these goodies. So much planning , who knew???
These M&S coconut choc ices are very nice - and small!

I was in Porto: lots there much nicer than any I've tasted in the UK 🙂
Maybe you will have to try baking your own.
We have done so and they were very good but a tad fussy to make and we used pre-made pastry.
I remember rolling the sheet of pasty into a roll and cutting it into 2cm slices which are flattened to fit into the tray.
The filling was a custard recipe which my partner does better than I.

If only I weren't so lazy 🙄

Well, I bought some Tesco Finest 85% with hints of fruit and warm winter spices or something like that last night and I am not impressed at all. Definitely won't try that one again. It will last a long time though as not tempting at all!

85% cocoa solids is about my limit too @Jodee

I had some 100% once, but really couldn’t get on with it.

70-85% seems to be the best balance of palatability and serious chocolate ‘hit’ for my tastebuds.

We indulged in 2 Lindt 70% dark chocolate truffles with coffee after dinner yesterday. My very rough maths estimated it at about 5g carbs. I do like 85% dark chocolate but tbh anything over 70% is good.

Does anyone else have a thought about high percentage dark chocolate which then has other things added. So for instance, I usually buy Lidl 70% Salted Caramel and it occurs to me that they start with 70% dark chocolate but then add extras which dilute it like the salted caramel or freeze dried raspberries or whatever, so it might end up only being 55% dark chocolate and similarly the Green and Blacks 60% with ginger may end up just being 50% because the added crystallised stem ginger dilutes it.
Ultimately the only thing that really counts is the carbs and our enjoyment of it of course 🙄 but I wonder if we are being slightly conned by the cocoa % on the wrapper with some products.

Does that mean that I can have one square of Milky Bar followed by one square of super-macho 100%-cocoa chocolate and still be eating healthily?

Only if you wear the cowboy hat and round glasses!
