In the Garden

@everydayupsanddowns I hope you've got those bedding plants in by now? Recognised lobelia and the pink one looks like thrift, aka armeria, to me - but what are the orange stars?

Yep they are all safely installed. The orange ones are trailing bidens - a lovely pop of colour against the scabious in our half barrel.

There were some blurry lobelia in the background, but the blue one in the photo is actually an evergreen Lithodora ‘Heavenly Blue’ which I’m trying again in a warmer spot nearer the house. The last one didn’t survive the winter. :(

Spotted first mini green tomato already, I've had to put them outside and were getting too big, I am fleecing them at night. The runner beans are desperate to get in the ground too, I think its going to happen come the weekend, I am enjoying lettuce already and all the herbs are doing well just now. The ground is very dry but we are due some rain tomorrow that will help.
The wisteria did well but its already going over, too dry I think. Wisteria.jpg

Gorgeous Wisteria. 🙂

Excuse me but your typo has amused me.
Red saliva rarely looks good.

But the Red Salvia does look lovely
😱😱:rofl: yes I was typing in a hurry and didn't proof read it first. Makes it sound like one of those horrible tablets the dentist used to make you chew to show up plaque on your teeth.
Much prefer red salvia. (Just noticed auto correct suggested saliva.....hate autocorrect!)

My garden is now ready for my 75th birthday visitors next week. It took me a day and a half of fetching, carrying and laying out, and my friend Chris 3 hours to plant up. I'm very stiff and sore today!!! If you look closely at picture 2, you can see Tufty ***** cat enjoying the sunshine. This year's theme red, yellow and orange.

Can anyone tell me what this shrub in our front border is called? It's a magnet for bees and if you go near it at the moment there's a constant hum, like something electrical.

Looks a beautiful spot to sit and enjoy a glass of vino or cuppa. I love the borrowed view.

I think it could be a ceanothis, commonly known as californian lilac. Does it keep its leaves in winter?

Yes, it's an evergreen. We bought it around 10 or 11 years ago, when it was in its pot, but it's now taller than me, about the same width and a mass of flowers and bees. It certainly looks like a Ceanothus judging by the photos I've been looking at.
Thanks for that.

There's several different cultivars, some form a low sprawling ground cover shrub and some are small trees.
