I not heard anything from the hospital about my appointment in the last 18 months.

I had my first one in December last year after diagnosis in September

Mine got cancelled last April, and I haven’t heard anything yet, so it’s now 2 years since I had one.

I think it is very variable depending on where you live

Maybe I was lucky, I had first eye test 6 weeks after diagnosis

I believe they are prioritizing newly diagnosed diabetics and those people with changes to their retina or other sight issues so if your last screening was normal you may end up just getting screened every 2 years at least until they get on top of the back log but that may take some time as some people are developing diabetes as a result of Covid, plus they are spacing the appointments to avoid people in the waiting rooms and allow for cleaning/disinfecting between patients.

If you are referring to the retinal scan, I had this last summer. It was a little later in the year than previously but, as usual, I was invited to my local surgery to have my pupils dilated and retinal photos taken.

I have heard that they have changed frequency of retinal scans to two yearly unless something was spotted in the last scan. This is unrelated to pandemics.

Following my first covid jab, I have also had a standard optician appointment.

I am please to report both wer eall clear.

Had mine end of March and it was 6 months late due to the screeners having to self isolate after being contacted by track and trace.

I had mine a couple of weeks ago. A few months later than usual due to Covid restrictions

I had my first last year about Feb/March and I’ve got another this Friday.
I just mentioned to the DN that I’d not been called for a retinopathy screening in a while and she immediately got on the phone and booked the appointment.

I’m off on Thursday for my eye screening. I got an apology in the appointment letter for the delay. I know there’s nothing wrong - Specsavers couldn’t see any problem when they did a home visit sight test.

Likewise I’m not expecting any issues to be spotted as Vision Express have had a good look in my eyes over the last month quite a few times!

Mine last April was cancelled but I had mine in March this year.
Ditto - except March last year and February this year, letter asking me to ring and make an appointment which I did and it was done where and when I'd arranged to suit us - 'us' because husband has to take me! (obviously we can't drive ourselves back from wherever even if we could drive there LOL)

My GP practice does its own eye screening - and my first screening is in 5 weeks.

I've heard where GPs have to rely on the city's eye hospital, the backlog is unfortunately enormous.

In my area some of the screening is done at various locations around the county. My last one was in a function room in the neighboring town, I have had them in offices, a pharmacy, GP surgery, not my own, and the offices for the screening service.

It’s been 2 years since I had my eyeballs tickled - I’m going to ring my optician and get them to do it, once I’ve had the second jab. I hate going for too long without a check-up.

I read some information that said due to Covid diabetes retinal eye screening is having a 2 year gap unless you’re high risk (previous eye problems, missed the pre covid screening etc) as they are focusing on catching these up first.

Had appointment for eye screening last summer, had to wait outside & wait to be called in & only 1 person allowed in waiting area. 2 year check with specsavers is in 3 weeks time.
