Autonomic neuropathy and gastroparesis? Help

I’m so sorry to hear you are suffering so much. Can you change the heading of your thread as you May get more replies. I’ve had gastroparesis for over ten years and would 99.9% say that your The symptoms you’ve listed do not sound like gastroparesis. What are your BG levels like?

You say not a definite diagnosis who gave you it as a provisional diagnosis for gastroparesis? You would not have a colonoscopy to assess for gastroparesis. All the best for your GP appointment this afternoon.

My apologies for the heading if it’s wrong. I’m not very good about changing things this is the first forum I’ve joined and don’t know how things work. I’m not very computer savvy.

everyone is very kind and it gives me hope when I’m in so much pain I can barely think. please bear with me, I’m not really knowing what I’m doing

Don’t worry about it. If something isn’t right just post here and I’m sure it can be changed for you by the forum team. No need to apologise at all 🙂

Thank you
I seem to be making a mess of posting on here. I’m just not very good at all of this. Could you point me towards help please? I’m really sorry to have to ask but I think I’m inadvertently breaking rules or conventions which is not my intention. I’m so rubbish at online stuff. Thank you

Hi you’re not making a mess of posting and as far as I can see you’re not breaking any rules or conventions. Carry on as you are, it isn’t a problem. How did you get on with your GP?

Ok, I’m still here but the news seems pretty dreadful. It looks like it is autonomic neuropathy with bowel problems. My doctor has just said use laxatives and go to hospital if they don’t work. I’m very cold, shaking and dizzy after the laxative worked. I feel dreadful and in so much pain. I don’t know what to do next. I hope someone can help with advice, I feel hopeless and drained

Sorry I couldn’t reply earlier, so tired. Looks like autonomic neuropathy with bowel problems. I hope someone can help and give advice on what to do now. My doctors just said laxatives and hospital if they don’t work. I’m so afraid, I’m cold, shaking and dizzy.

Go to the hospital, I`m amazed the Dr told you Autonomic Neuropathy
without any tests.

Was that the actual diagnosis the GP gave you or did they say it might be that? Are you being referred to a specialist? There are specialist units in major hospitals.

Like @KARNAK I’d have thought a diagnosis would need specialist input and testing.

He just said might. I don’t know what happens next. I have no money left to get to hospital and 111 said I didn’t qualify. I’ll try ringing the doctors again but not much luck this time of day! Thank you

Well, “might” is hopeful because it could also be “might not”. I see that your laxative worked too (although it made you feel rough).

If you get through to the doctor’s ask if you’re being referred to a specialist or for further tests if that wasn’t made clear during your appointment. Don’t be put off. Get the answers you need.

Is it the pain making you feel you need to go to the hospital? Did the GP say anything about your pain or offer another appointment to assess how treatment was going?

Hello again @WoolspinnerEm

Sorry to hear you are still in so much pain and discomfort :(

When you say the laxative worked, does this mean you’ve been able to go to the loo? I really hope this serves to alleviate some of the discomfort you are feeling because constipation can cause significant pain from the inside out.

Please don’t worry about where you post things, or how things are titled. If you’d like something moved or changed please just tag me or one of the other mods (type an ‘@‘ followed by our username like @everydayupsanddowns and the system will notify us) and we can move or rename things for you.

Do continue to contact your GP, call the Diabetes UK helpline (number at the top of the page) or call NHS111. Really hope you get the help and support you need to reduce and manage your pain, and get a definitive diagnosis. It is very hard for you at the moment - but things WILL improve, there is hope and you can make it through this.

I can’t find people’s posts. The email comes through fine but then I’m afraid I can’t find it. To Inka, I’m waiting for a callback from the doctors. I suppose I’m torn betweven panicking and trying to hold on. (H heck, even my typing has gone to pot) talk later, not feeling too clever

I click the View Thread button at the bottom of the email and that brings me to this thread. I then scroll up/down to the last post I read and read on from there. But don’t worry about that too much or how the forum works - focus on yourself and what you need.

Don’t panic. Don’t anticipate bad news. Try to keep calm and keep a clear head. I know that’s easier said than done, especially when you’re in pain, but see it as ‘doing a job’. Your ‘job’ is to think logically and get the help you need.

Stay strong. X

Thank you. You sound like my daughter, also a very practical soul with good advice.
