Having more bowel trouble, eye problems and cant go on. I wish I could see a doctor instead of being told all appointments are gone when I get through. i was rushed into hosital, they thought it was appendicitis the pain is that bad, but I can’t go to the loo!! I’ve been given cosmocol sachets. Will they work? I’m so frightened. I keep asking for help here and then having to rest for a couple of days. I’m so sorry if it appears that I ask and run. That is not my intention. I really don’t want to die but it looks the best option at the moment

I may be wrong but I thought gastroparesis was more to do with digestion and delayed stomach emptying than bowel problems.

Have you tried ringing 111 if you are in that much pain and the medication is not helping?

I appear to have been having digestion/bowel problems for some months. I have lost weight, no appetite, intermittent constipation, night sweats, and now finally nerve pain all over. On the odd occasion I have managed to contact doctors they put it down to the menopause. Which is understandable but now it’s been days since my bowels opened, I’m on gabapentin thank gd but it feels like my digestion has just stopped entirely. I was taken to hospital last week with abdominal pains but on seeing it wasn’t appendicitis I was discharged, colonoscopy sometime in future. Sorry, shaking too bad to type easily

I was stranded after the last hospital trip. I used the last of food money to get home. I do not qualify for hospital transport until assessed. That’s after the pandemic,I was told! I think I’ll just give up. I’ve had enough I think

I hope you can get some help and reassurance from your Doctor.

Some of the common side affects of Gabapentin on the Patient Information Leaflet are constipation, stomach pain, indigestion and also blurred vision and I think you said you've recently started taking it. There are other drugs which can be tried for neuropathic pain. Wishing you well.

Oh, thank you!! Yes, I’ve got a doctors appointment this afternoon . I feel a bit like I’ve won the lottery! And that information is very interesting. I shall write it down to take with me because the pain is leaving me brainless. its very scarey. (That sounds like scooby do. Sorry!)

I’m not normally so emotional and tactless. Thank you all for helping. It’s helped me take a little step back

Write down your points even if you think you’ll remember them. It helps a lot - and I think it makes the Dr take you more seriously as the points are on paper and aren’t just made verbally to float away, so to speak.

Also, make a list of your priorities ie is it the constipation that needs immediate help, etc Write down some possible treatments ready to bring them up. Personally, I find I have to be fairly firm and ‘forceful’ rather than just passively listen.

You’re clearly suffering and you need some help. Good luck. X

Good morning @WoolspinnerEm.

Still going through grief I see? as far as Gabapentin is concerned you had your bowls issue
before you started taking them I`d be very sceptical if they have added to the problem.
You have an appointment with the Dr today well done as has already been said write everything
down of concern to you and don`t leave the surgery without a result, be firm or cry if you have to.

Very curious about your heading:- Autonomic Neuropathy & Gastroparesis, is this an actual diagnosis
or something you assume/think you have? don`t remember you mentioning it before or have I missed
a previous post? as far as Cosmocol sachets are concerned if you don`t try them you won`t know. Make
a list of all the over the counter medication you have tried and present it to the Dr, good luck keep us up
to date we are here for you.
