Now I've just discovered the effects of lockdown, lack of exercise, and inability to get a supermarket delivery. But it's not an excuse, as I know I only have myself to blame. Others managed just fine, lost weight and reduced their HbA1c.
My weight shot up beyond my diagnosis weight but I'm getting on top of that. I want to try and lose 6kg by Christmas, and 18kg by next Easter. I have been able to get deliveries, not just relying on the contents of the carb heavy Pensioners Box (you got no choice) and I'm back in the pool now. My BP was surprisingly good and the Diabetic Nurse was very pleased with it. But my HbA1c has shot up and now I have to accept I will need to take Metformin as my result was 66. We discussed it, because of my Diverticular Disease, and I am to try the slow release version. I'm aware I can expect even worse diarrhoea than I already have (overnight incontinence pads at the ready), but are there any other side effects to look out for?
