Hey guys
I just thought i would share my little story with you.
I needed to renew my license May 2013. so i sent all the paper work off. i got a letter for me to go to the GP because of my T1 Diabetes. which considering i had been D for a while didnt understand why, but i went there got the forms signed and sent as was required. I then had to go and see a specialist, (i had already done all this to keep my HGV license). I Called the DVLA and spoke to the medical team. they said that i needed to go to the specialist every year and get a check on my meter. I told them that i currently serve in the Forces in Germany and asked if i could see a specialist over here, seeing as the Diabetes support over here is legendary. They said i would have to go to UK and they would find 1 that would be eaasy for me to get too. they would not pay any travel or expenses for hotels or things. they sent me to Plymouth. easiest airport for me to use would be 3 hours this side and 3 hours in UK on a bus or train and it would have cost in excess of 1000 pound. so i had to drive. it took 16 hours but the army paid for the trip for me. it went well with the specialist and he sent the forms off the next day, he faxed me the paperwork and the tracking number. the DVLA recieved my paperwork with a signature for Royal Mail on August 29 2013, i got my license back on January 7 2014. so a total of 8 monthes to get my license back and i have to it all again soon.
have fun laughing with me about this
