Well done @gail2 :star:
You're doing so well, "onwards and upwards"

Alan

Well done!

Cool, good news! 😎

Great news Gail :D:hello::party:

Great news @gail2 . These wins you are making aren't just little wins. They're big wins

You seem to be overall in a positive place. Long may it continue.

No life is always always on the up. There will be things go wrong, but you seem in a much better place to tackle any challenges you have.

Again, respect and kudos to you.

Well done @Gail.
Onwards and ‘downwards with insulin doses/levels’.
You are doing brilliantly and nice to have figures confirming all that you are doing.

i just wondEr wot my hbc1a is i know its the lowest its been since 2019 but they didt tell mw wot it was am thinking of asking for one to be done

Are you able to access your medical records online, Gail?

I can understand why that might be unhelpful at times.

Hopefully, rather than redo the test they'll just give you the result.

I know everyone’s congratulating you but honestly I don’t get why. You need the insulin dose that you need. You aren’t doing better when your dose reduces, and aren’t doing better than someone else that takes more, just like if your dose increases again in future people shouldn’t then say to you well you’re doing badly then you should try harder. You can’t mark yourself by your insulin dose.

I’ve recently increased my dose for example. From 55 to 60. That doesn’t mean I’m doing worse than I was before or that I’m doing worse than you. It meant I’m doing better than I was before because I’m managing my blood sugars according to the insulin dose I require at this current moment in time.

I understand what you're saying. Speaking for myself, though, if someone seems pleased with how they're managing their diabetes then I like to reinforce how they're feeling (unless they seem to be doing something obviously wrong!), given how tough it can be to stay positive. So, I think that you and Gail are both doing well - in different ways.

I guess. I’m mainly concerned that if Gail were to need to increase her insulin she’d see that as failing and not trying hard enough, given the number of people that have reinforced the false idea that reducing dose is success

Yes, I think you make a very important point. As you say, balancing our insulin needs is the key thing.

It is also a good idea to remember that @Gail is an insulin dependent T2 and reducing insulin suggests that she is getting better blood glucose control generally and that is worthy of congratulations.

Either way up it is another case where everybody is right, providing you see which way they are coming from!

Great points! I've learnt that everyone on here has their own unique situations and challenges and that it's a mistake to try to judge oneself too much by comparing one's own numbers with those of other people.
