I've been advised by my osteopath to take daily Collagen for my joints & have bought some made by Zooki : but although the sachets say they contain zero sugar per 15ml, they contain xylitol and 7g carbohydrate per 15ml. Each sachet is 15ml and tastes terribly sweet. I asked the company whether it was OK for a type 2 diabetic and they said they thought it was but I should get another opinion. What is anyone out there's advice??

Xylitol is a 'polyol' (I think) and isn't digested so shouldn't be an issue.
You could always try a sachet and do some testing.
There are other things in that stuff, as well, which may be carby.

Personally I believe overall health is important.
7mg even if it was pure sugar, wouldn't worry me to treat another condition.
In the grand scheme of things it's not much.
As said though, it's not a sugar, so shouldn't affect you.

Oh - polyols - I avoid them as my gut flora and fauna have wild parties which have potentially explosive consequences if I indulge.

Xylitol is very dangerous for dogs. Not problem for cats i beleive.

Ha! That’s the first thing I thought of too.
