And Viagra traces its roots all the way back to a mistake in a lab which eventually led to the development of dynamite.

Oh and Nobel only set up the Nobel Prize Foundation because someone made a mistake and published an obituary for him whilst he was very much alive. Seeing himself described as being wealthy on the back of inventing multiple ways to die he stepped away from the dynamite and ordnance business.

And then it was only seen as a potential improvement on existing angina treatments until a nurse at the end of the clinical trials happened to mention to someone that it was funny but all the men in the trial would lay face down or sit with their hands in the laps during examinations.
Then someone asked a few of the men why they were sitting like that.

Sometimes the “accidents” produce astonishing results.

And mum always said I was an accident!

Accidental discovery - very interesting!!

There was a very good docu-drama on TV a couple of years ago. A rival team spent years researching penicillin, the accidental discovery story was alleged to be a publicity stunt by Fleming and his backers

This is the dynamite/viagra tale.

And I really like his delivery. He doesn’t see the script beforehand so no rehearsal and his ad-libbing is genuine.

No idea why it’s not posting the video but it’s the “Today i found out” YouTube channel.

Remember the guy in the 1970s, James Somebody, lots of chains of consequences ...A monk fell down stairs in the dark in 1246 and broke his toe so now we have computers through a chain of improbable connections.

It sounds just fine for mice and other animals that are covered in sebaceous glands because they are covered in hair. We aren’t, usually. The hairy bits have lots, the non hairy bits don’t. Apart from a few specialised sebaceous glands around the female nipple, the penis, labia minori, nose and some other bits.

As this effect is intended to get rid of fat, it’s worth knowing that only a fraction of sebum is triglyceride, the rest being a waxy substance. And one assumes these triglycerides are swimming around in your blood, first stop the liver, second stop the heart, then the lungs. That’s before they ever get around to finding sebaceous glands. You would get thinner, but only in a coffin. You would’t look good, either, covered in acne with greasy hair, armpits and naughty bits. For sure, fifteen pounds of fat is an awful lot to liquidise and leak out.
