Just something that was playing on my mind. Obviously as you know i'm currently unmedicated with my diabetes. Just because my pancreas hasn't yet given up!

So once when I stated to someone who i've known a good few years, a type 2 who I work with, that my diabetes was going fine and that I wasn't on insulin or anything yet... apparently that was good. I mean of course it is! Its pretty amazing really.

I just wonder what they'd of said if I was on insulin 🙂 What confusion the world of diabetics can be.

I think if your body is coping with things by itself, with the help you give it with choosing a wise diet and plenty of exercise, then that's great 🙂 Although I need insulin it does surprise me how much I can reduce it when I am having a particularly good spell. Who-s to know how much insulin our pancreas was pumping out when fully healthy though? Some people seem to need much more insulin than others, but as long as we are doing our best to manage things then whatever it takes, it takes 🙂

Yours is a strange situation Liz, although if I had been able to test in the couple of years leading up to my diagnosis then I suspect I might have found myself in a very similar situation - diabetic, but managing without injecting.

I think the main difficulty about having to inject is getting the dose correct. I've never really worried about the fact I need to innject in order to stay healthy.

Your certainly right about getting the dose correct, when I was on insulin it proved to be way to much then I hit what was probably a honeymoon period and it was even worse! That was only 5 units with food too!

If I eventually end up on insulin I will want to have full control over it because who knows our bodies better than ourselves at the end of the day?

On the other hand I had a conversation about diabetic pets today. That must be awful :( I don't think I could put a pet through that!!
