Worst ever hypo

Hi guys, thanks for your good wishes, I'm fine now. It took me a while to realise, but it happened because I injected and then forgot to eat - how stupid is that? My tea is still in the oven...😱

You're very welcome Alan. Very glad to hear you're ok now. Ooops about what you did but don't worry because we've all done that or something similar. What was your tea anyway?
 
Glad your OK now, bit scary that type 1 business.

perhaps someone could make a locket type thing to wear, and in the locket have a glucose pill type thing, or is that stupid?????? Would always be on you in the event of trouble.

You wolly 😛 Easy done I guess if you inject while your food is cooking. I always inject after I see the food on the plate. Easiest way for me to carb count too as I'm used to seeing how food looks on a plate to work out it's carb content. The food isn't as hot when I start eating it, but it means I wouldn't forget to eat.

Not a silly idea. I do something similar, I use a Glucocarry case and have it in my pocket 24/7 so I'm never without something to treat a hypo.

Where would we all be without jelly babies? though personally I prefer fruitella although they need unwrapping.
In a bizarre way it's encouraging to know that things can go wrong for v experienced diabetics as well as relatively newbies like me.

Ten Jelly Babies? You were disgusted with me for eating Eight a short time ago. Still the best treatment I have found for a Hypo though. nom nom nom.
 
Oh Alan, I am so glad you are feeling better. You did really well to take control of the situation yourself. Thank goodness for jelly babies. I'm glad you realised what had caused this nasty hypo.

My OH said about maybe some sort of patch you wear which is somehow linked to wifi and if your BS goes very low and stays like that for a while the patch would alert one of your chosen contacts.
 
Its so easily done Alan. Not quite the same but when you inject Byetta you have to inject in the hour, and hubby is always nagging/reminding me to eat as generally dont think about it or get so in to something and just forget. I have just told him your story and thanked him now for all his nagging.

I hope you are feeling better now. I think the idea of something around your neck is a good idea - or always carry a case with the JB's in.🙂
 
i had a hypo a few weeks ago - 1.7 - i knew i had to do something about it but instead of drinking lucozade etc i decided to inject myself with a further 10 units, obviously not in the right frame of mind!!

had to call ambulance and sit in hospital for few hours til blood sugars came up....

weird, have never done that before and luckily OH was with me
