Worry about Insulin supply

As a T1 i have just tried to book my grocery shop and cant get anything until 8th April. Now if i have the same situation getting hold of my insulin i will be in a grave situation probably within 24 hours. Are we being given any advice about our prescriptions or supply?
 
There are no issues reported currently and I think the chemists would be letting people know to be honest, advice is to make sure you have a supply anyway so you could always just order to be on the safe side if your worried about it xx
 
Food supplies are mainly having problems because of all the idiots who are panic buying everything in sight. You can't panic buy insulin, your doctor won’t sign off the prescription if you try to order too much, so there should be no difference at all in supply. Having said that, it's a good idea to make sure you have a little bit of stock anyway (e.g. a couple of weeks worth) each time you reorder, just in case there are any problems.
 
I’ve skim read something today that said that things were being put in place to protect supply, and to allow people (like insulin users) to access medication, even if their GP surgery become unable to dispense prescriptions during the crisis.

So I would try to remain calm. The supply is being protected.

Having said that - while you don’t want to stockpile meds (else we’ll end up with a supermarket situation)... it is probably wise not to leave it until you are down to your last few units until you reorder!
 
As others have said, it is worth ordering in good time. I certainly allow a fudge in case things get delayed, but as others have said we cannot stockpile.
 
I went to my local pharmacy this morning (Superdrug - Luton) to pick up my meds and they weren’t able to fulfil most of my prescription. No Penlife needles and only 2 individual pens of Fiasp. Confusingly, I was told they don’t know when they’ll get anymore deliveries but to try again tomorrow. So stocks are being depleted by the sounds of it, don’t let yourselves run too low of meds if you can help it just in case things do take a turn for a worse. I hate myself saying this, as I feel there is already too much panic and irrational behaviour going on, but who knows how bad it’s going to get acquiring supplies. So if you are running low and find what you need get it. I tend to make sure I always have enough pens and needles to last me about 2 months. Stay healthy everyone.
 
Working in the supply chain, the is no issue with insulin supplies. Due Brexit we ate already over stocked as a nation with a good reserve.

No need to worry about these supplies... having enough bread for toast... maybe 😉
 
Grandaughter was unable to source the baby milk she needed where she lives in Sheffield and her sister in Coventry couldn't get nappies in Coventry last week. It's ridiculous. But so far I haven't heard anyone at all on two diabetes forums or a motorhome one that's had a problem with ANY medication.
 
our pharmacy are restricting supplies if metformin (any connection with the toilet rolls?). my wife got a shortage but I got my full repeat, don't quite understand. now the pharmacy has reduced its opening hours as they are overworked.
 
Got a text yesterday saying my prescription was ready (Libre sensors and BP pills) BUT I'm now going to have to put one in for BG strips " just in case" as I'm having yet more error codes with the Aviva strips and Roche just don't want to know, was it @Bruce Stephens that's a wealth of knowledge in reporting medical stuff using a website? if so could the strips be reported there? and possibly a link to it? and if not I do apologise! xx

This crops up from time to time on here and often it is not a general supply often the suppliers who supply these chains. Neither Suoerdrud in my city have Pharmacies.
When this has occurred in the past people have rang the manufacturer to be told there is no supply problem and some have contacted other phamacies in the area, and got their doctor to give them another prescription to take to other pharmacies.
