Is anyone else like me, and having to find a costume to wear for World Book Day?
I am a school librarian so expectations are high, but I am not good at thinking of things like this!

Think of some of your favourite books and characters. We should be able to give you some ideas for costumes if you give us an idea of characters who inspire you.

Some easy ones are

Queen of Hearts, just dress up, cut out hearts and make a heart crown

Mr Bump, dress in blue wrapped in bandages.

Red riding hood, a cape and a basket

Gangster granny, i wore jeans, stripy tee, grey wig, eye mask and a swag bag.

Burglar Bill, same as above but with a flat cap

Funny bones, dress all in black, cut out card bone shapes and pin on.

The witch from Room on the Broom

These are all ones i've done in the past. Actually, i'm assuming its primary?!

I also found this website. Might be worth a look.

Sorry, if you're High School, these won't be helpful at all!

Suppose it depends on what you can create.....and what you have to create it with

Professor mcgonagal from harry potter would be good

White dress and redjacket plus make some bunny ears and a big watch and you have the white rabbit from alice in wonderland

These are fantastic suggestions, thank you so much! It's a through-school, 2-18 years, but I feel that these would go down well with all ages!

These are great ideas, thanks!

Just carry your diabetes kit on display & go as Think like a pancreas. 😉
When I saw this I wondered about actually dressing as a pancreas (it made me think of the zombie costume I made last year for Halloween with entrails hanging out, etc.).

Though having just refreshed my memory of what a pancreas looks like (diagrammatically at least), I think that unless you're a very skilled crafter (and even then, if I can't remember what one looks like it's unlikely whomever sees you will!) you may end up with a costume which is very much NSFW! :D

You might end up getting mistaken for “Lady Gaga?”

Hope you have a fun day, whatever you decide to go for.

A bit of Charity Shop rummaging can help.

Mary Poppins is another one that can be hinted at with a black umbrella and carpet bag as accessories
