Hi, I'm on my 2nd day 0f 2 metformin tabs & feel really wooly headed & finding it hard to concentrate. Is this normal or is it more likely high blood pressure? Vision a bit squiffy too:confused:

Metformin takes a bit longer than a couple of days to start having an impact as far as I know, but it may simply be due to the fact that you have made modifications to your diet (if you have!), and just generally coming to terms with things. Many people experience 'squiffy' vision too, as your blood sugar levels are probably quite high still, and fluctuating. Most people find that things settle down in a week or two, and it's advisable not to get any new glasses until you are absolutely sure that everything has stabilised.

I imagine that, whether you are aware of it or not, you are also under quite a lot of stress with so much to take in. Be patient and things should ease in time, but do see your GP if you are worried 🙂

Hi Tomcat

You are describing the exact same thing I had when I started Metformin. Blurry vision was the worst part, but I can assure you that this will remedy itself once your blood glucose levels start to come down and you get used to the meds.

You will get the very best advice on this site. Welcome.

Donna 🙂

It takes a day or two for you to adjust to the metformin and for your body to get used to the new glucose levels in your blood. As you adjust things like your vision are affected for a while, but will return to normal.

If you are worried that it is your blood pressure go and see the doctor who will be able to help you.
