woke up this morning with a full blown cold (after having a horrible tickly cough for nearly 2 weeks). I'm due to have my blood test on Wed for my Hbaic and was wondering whether this will have a bad effect on my blood test?

Hi Carina the cold may have a small effect on your HbA1C but as the measurement looks back approx 3 months it shouldn't be a big effect.

I would try not to worry (easier said than done), you can't help getting a cold.

Hi, can't add any more than Margie has - answered it all in one post 🙂

hope you are feeling better soon, and good luck with your HBA1c.

Won't make much difference to your HbA1c result.

But, try not to spread your cold germs around wherever you have your blood taken - take tissues and make use of the handwash stations etc that most clinics have. Said with a bit of feeling, as I got a sore throat after attending an eye clinic last Wed! Despite using hand wash myself, other patients / relatives / companions did't all do so.

I dread going to the doctors for anything because of the variety of germs floating around. Obviously difficult for everyone to avoid spreading but we tend not to see many people day to day and to then have full exposure comes as a shock to immune system ! :D

Good luck with your Hb Carina. The previous few days are said not to count. The weight of it is on the previous 2 or 3 weeks, diminishing off as the weeks go back in time.🙂
