Very confused. Can someone point me in the right direction for a good nut butter for type 2 diabetes, as I love Peanut butter so would like to incorporate in my breakfast sometimes.

Check the total carbohydrates on the label as some may have added sugar, for example 'The foodie market ' crunchy peanut butter says no added sugar and is 12g carb per 100g but still has some sugar, Morrisons savers crunchy peanut butter is 15.5g carb per 100g as it has some sugar added, ASDA crunchy peanut butter is also 12g carb per 100g also added sugar.
They are not wildly different carb wise but may be different price wise so choose what suits you budget.
There are other nut butters but they can be higher carb eg Almond butter which I have in the cupboard which is 25g carb per 100g.

this is the one I buy all the time, usually the smooth. It contains total carbs 9.2 g per 100g and has 4.2g sugar.

That’s weird @Leadinglights - the Meridian almond butter I have for breakfast is 6.5g carb per 100g. I eat almond butter because it’s lower in carb than peanut butter (which I now find too sweet LOL). Which almond butter have you got in your cupboard, out of interest?🙂

I buy the Meridian ones too as they are made with 100% nuts, no palm oil or other nasties.

I like the Aldi one, but only have around a tablespoon at a time.

It is one from Costco, their own brand Kirkland

Has it got added sugar? I’m puzzled by the high carb content. Are you a smooth or a crunchy fan?
6.25g sugar per 100g, I suspect I bought it before I was paying too much attention to the carbs as the expiry date is 2019.
I prefer crunchy peanut butter.

Yay, another crunchy fan! Most people I know like smooooth.

Prefer crunchy myself over smooth, but either is good.

Bought brand called Meridian months ago which was 100% nuts, didn't like it found it oily & not very nice tasting, still sitting in cupboard have to throw it out as nobody else likes it.

Another crunchy fan here. I buy the green top "Meribel" "Whole Nut" peanut butter from Lidl which is just 9.1g/100g carbs and reasonably priced.

I tend to buy Meridian nut butters but recently I’ve been buying Pip and Nut ones and they’re delicious.
No palm oil and no added sugars in the plain varieties, just nuts and sea salt.

I like the whole earth ones too.

I have tried to avoid palm oil, but often seem to end up with ‘nut butter soup‘ for some reason, where the oil separates out of the butter and it gets very gloopy.

You could use it to make a Satay sauce with some Soy sauce and a bit of chilli and a dollop of yoghurt.

That’s my fav (I like the oil - they suggest you mix the oil in when you first open it). Stick it in an envelope and send it to me - without the jar of course. 😉

Looks like there’s plenty of crunchy nut-ters on the forum. :D😛😎 How about you @Lucifercat?
