I went back to work on Monday, I used the same ratios as since I went back onto novarapid which relates to me breaking up from work.

These are 1u / 15g Breakfast, 1u / 12g Lunch, & 1u / 15g Tea.

On my first day back I had lovely levels throughout the day. Until the evening meal where 2 hours later I had a spike of 12 mmol. I put this down to bad carb counting.

However the next day using these ratios & eating the same meals I hovered around the 10mmol mark with numerous corrections, and I could not get them down until later where with extra insulin on top of my ratios I got them under control. Ive basically been adding around 50+% to keep them under control and it works back to around 1u / 7g for break fast, 1u / 8g lunch, and 1u/7g for dinner. To just keep me under control in decent figures.

I thought I had something coming on like a cold, but nothings really come out in me, I feel a little bit achey but Im not entirely sure a colds going to come out in me.

So could I not be ill, and the fact Im back at work and LESS active mean that my ratios have upped this dramatically? Or could I still have something coming on (Like I say I dont feel 100% and everyone at work and at home is ill with colds and stuff) but my bloods have gone up in preperation 2 or 3 days before its shown?

I dont know what to do, Im injecting as if im ill so adding the 50-75+% and so far plan on doing this until i hit an almighty hypo, OR nothing at all happens and its my ratios have changed.

Thoughts please Im confused!!

My need for insulin goes up 2 or 3 days before I feel ill. Fingers crossed.

Ive never hoped so much for a cold to come on!

Sometimes the only indication that I have an illness is my insulin requirements going up and maybe feeling not 100%, so similar to you. Often nothing materialises, as my immune system has fought it off - if I didn't have diabetes I'd never have known!

I imagine it's a combination of that, plus change of activity levels. 🙂

Sometimes they just change as well for no apparent reason.

Interestingly, I bet we'll see a lot threads posted here around the end of March with people saying their ratios have suddenly all gone wrong.

Why March lol? 3 Month itch?

Sounds nice! And worth the change!

Sorry to throw another potential spanner in the works, but I find that my basal requirement is affected quite significantly by the amount of carbs I ate the day before. Is this a possibility for you as well?

Don't know about T1s but I find it can take me a couple of days to get back to normality if I go too high one day, no explanation I can think of.

As an update, there is still no cold to speak of.

I think maybe the lack of activity, slightly raised stress levels of been back to work (Although unknowingly that they are there) etc may mean that my ratios are nearer what they were previously when I was on Novarapid.

The possiblity that over Xmas when I was nicerly relaxed etc may have meant that I needed much less insulin.

One to note for the futre and futre holidays maybe! We shall see.. Ill have to book some time off as a matter of urgency to conduct the experiment!
