Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi everyone
I was diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes yesterday and I also have Colitis.
Does anyone else suffer from both of these and if so what do you eat?
A lot of things good for Diabetes are bad for Colitis so I am really confused.
Many thanks in advance
AJ

HI Andre, Welcome to the forum. Sorry I can’t help much as I don’t know what diet is good for people with Colitis.
I don’t know what you have been told about what is a good diet for Diabetes , health professionals often push the eatwell plate which most of us find totally unsuitable as it raises our BG (blood glucose) too , so Many of us here cut down on the fast acting carbohydrates ie, potatoes esp mash, pasta, bread esp white , rice and things made with flour, we tend to be careful with fruit too, now I don’t know if this is suitable for you.
It may be a good idea if you tell us what is suitable foods for Colitis

If by Colitis you mean Ulcerative Colitis, then I’ve had that for as long as I’ve had T1. 21 years. The only food I avoid, when the Colitis is active, is high fibre. I also have Chronic Pancreatitis so have to avoid high fat ( and alcohol). Otherwise, it’s just a normal healthy diet. There aren’t any special foods for either condition. A low carb diet for diabetes will make not a jot of difference to Colitis. I don’t see any clash - and have never found one.

Kofta Vindaloo is not good for either.:D
