Going to a hotel just for b and b . Seems it does no longer do evening meals. It is in the seaside town of Beaumaris. Daughter is moving in Bangor student accomodation in town to a house somewhere in town . So will be cleaning snd moving and settling her in.
I think I will cope unless it is a continental bfast.
If not i can have coffee and get a yoghurt or something in town. Lunch i can get cheese/cold meats n takeaway salad. I usually get sandwiches and rolls for them easily enough. Its dinner. I can see fish n chips , pizza, chinese, pub menu . Might even just be pot noodles if wet back in hotel room .
So any good low carb dinners out ?
I will not be able to cook and we don't have lots of money.
I am unsure if there is a carvery anywhere? its touristy so its the usual take aways too high carb and I am thinking the hotels we cant afford as charge more for non resident.
I just want to have ideas planned before so i dont go completely of the rails

Have a look at the B & B you are staying at as it will generally have specified what breakfast is provided. Cooked breakfast usually will give you some options to choose from eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms.
Indian restaurants are usually good options as you can have tikka or tandoori paneer dishes and veg bhaaji side dishes if you don't want meat.
Most pub chains will do salads or veggie burgers (just have without the bun), have a look before you go for what there is in Beaumaris.
It is only a couple of days so just do your best.
I am away next week and for lunch on Sat where we have had to prebook I have chosen a halloumi and mushroom sizzler and asked for no rice or chips but a piece of garlic bread as I know I am OK with that.

Hi Nayshiftin,
How very relevant your post as we are having a w/ end in Beaumaris next w/ end.
Does the hotel begin with a B perchance.Howver a couple of evening places are Liverpool Arms pub and Pier Head which both offer a nice selection and are in the town.

The Midland Tapas Bar in Beaumaris is great and has a good variety of dishes. You might find a choice of small dishes rather than a plateful easier to negotiate

No its the Castle… probably a run down place but hey ho. Thanks for ideas . We are older so unsure.
The place itself is very nice as we go there when we see my daughter. We do like to be a little away to get space if either of us need it.

Sarisa Kitchen looks good if you like Indian food.

I tried a tuna sandwich homemade without crusts. i was 6. 4 before lunch and two hours after it was 8.8 so i thought not too bad but then just before tea its not come down enough it was 8.4.
So would you avoid that sandwich altogether. To be honest with no crusts it was a very small sandwich. I do okay with a tuna salad so it is just the bread.
Was trying before i eat a sandwich out.
To think id have crisps a biscuit or fruit normally.
Diabetes really takes the enjoyment away.

If my partner is having a Chinese takeaway, I have stir fried Chinese veg and a little bit of his main dish, usually chicken or pork or duck with ginger and spring onion and a dessert spoon of his rice to soak up any juice. Or of course an Egg Foo Yung dish is basically an omelette so that should be fine. With Indian, I have a vegetable bhaji or cauliflower bhaji or brinjal bhaji (ask for the vegetable bhaji not to include potatoes) and again a tiny bit of his main course which in his case is Malayan chicken (yes creamy sweet and fruity) with a single dessert spoon of rice to soak up any juice. Hope that gives you some ideas. I have to say that sometimes I find that a little bit of sugar is preferable to starchy carbs for me as my body seems to deal with a small amount of sugar better than bread or rice or pasta, so even a very small amount of sweet and sour chicken with my stir fry veg would be preferable to having more rice.... for me.

Also, don't lose sight of this being a holiday.... albeit a working holiday by the sound of it, so a few little treats should not be off the cards. You can always put your nose back to the grindstone when you get back and undo any negative progress. Diabetes is about finding a balance and holidays and birthdays you should be able to relax that control a little as long as it doesn't become regular treats. I share a regular portion of fish and chips with my partner about once every 6-8 weeks. He has more chips than me but we share the fish pretty evenly and it is an occasional treat and I am OK with that. The next day, I will be back to my low carb choices but that little treat and the bonding of sharing it is good.

I wish i could believe i could do this. However ill cheat and get away and do it again or ill go totally off the rails and getting back on is hard.
i guess its turning that around snd believing i can go the whole journey . its a long way to a good BMi and this stop on the way makes for bad repairs after.
yes its life and thanks fir pointers and hints.

A turning point in the new way of eating is being able to realise that you don't have to eat everything on your plate or being able to select the parts that you know you can safely eat. That will eventually become second nature.

From a continental breakfast, there's usually cold meats and cheese, and oftentimes yoghurt, although often sweet versions.

For evening meals, Indian food can be reduced carb fairly easily. Kebabs - not doner. I have no idea what goes in there, but would be astonished if it doesn't have rusk or some other binding elements.

You may find if you are being more active than usual that you can get away with more than your usual "allowances", but at the end of the day, provided you're not away for several weeks, whatever you do, it's unlikely to do any long term harm.

ill never say never but this I cannot see. The diet misses out all i crave for. So what you cannot have however bad you want

Hubby thought an M and S sandwich would not be bad but my BS is now in the 11's so I am really foaming at the mouth. I don't think the medication does anything and well I am unsure what to do.
I just look at carbs and it shoots my BS up and I look at fat and my weight goes up.
I am beginning to despair.
If you could get a decent meal not to feel hungry then okay but I can't be a no I cant eat that and sit thinking oh Id love that all my life.

Just a thought, and I know you'll be busy, but there's a Waitrose in Menai Bridge (just over the bridge into Anglesey). You could get healthy lunches and snacks there as you go to and fro between Bangor and Beaumaris. I agree with others that Indian is a good option for evening meal. Don't beat yourself up however. It's just a few short days, and part of the journey we are on is learning how to deal with the curveballs life throws our way.

Absolutely there are plenty ideas for lunch as you say salad and fresh meat there will be ideal. It will be in the evening as cannot see me cooking they will either want a take out or eat out. I can just do my best and aim to go as best I can on return. Yes you are right that Waitrose does see a lot of us when we have been there before. Christmas dinners bought Christmas Eve as they came back to us when we visited for Christmas dinner. So I know it has the works. I have ideas like indian but its the rice i like there. So just going to have to discipline myself. I'll get used to it.
