Realy dont understand diabetes, as I said in an earlier post I was going to eat and drink what I like on Christmas day and I did exactly that and enjoyed every morsal, I ate and drunk everything from champagne/Port to roast potatoes, christmas pudding and Brandy sauce all big portions, Checked my bloods about every two hours and the highest I went all day was 6-4. I was totaly shocked as I was expecting to see double figures. so like I said in the beggining it makes no sense.I was on 5-9 this morning.
Not going to be so reckless today but enjoyed every minute yesterday.

I am not 100% sure but I think if you have been careful and keeping your BGs down with diet and have a higher carbs day your liver will squirrel away some glucose for a rainy day so you may not get quiet the jump as expected. Plus if you have improved insulin resistance etc your body may be better at handling the carbs also.

Also, your bod prioritizes dealing with alcohol over carbs.

High fat and alcohol will have kept your blood sugars down. There are no carbs in spirits like brandy and very few in Champagne. Lots of fat in roast potatoes and pudding which also slows the release of sugars. I had a good day for blood sugar yesterday - then made the mistake of having two pieces of seeded toast for breakfast this morning and hit 9.0!!! Back to 6.4 after lunch and a walk.
