I was started January 2011 on 5mm and I bruised like heck - however careful I was - DSN changed me to 4mm (she said "you're only little" as I really am a very slight frame) and they've been fine. What a difference - one happy old lady !! 🙂

Recently came down from 8mm to 5mm.

On the pump so haven't voted but am on 8mm teflon cannula - the shortest available for my pump unless I switch to steel (not convinced!). Apparently in a few months 6mm teflon cannulas will be available too, yay! Having lost weight suddenly recently 8mm now feels quite long! 😱

I recently switched to 6mm from 8mm and still think i could do with shorter!,

I've only ever used 5mm needles.

As far as IV injecting of insulin, this is normally only done in hospitals when the patient is hooked up to a infuser. Only trained medical staff should ever inject into a vein as it can be very dangerous.

I use 8mm and I have done for a long time, so I may consider asking my DSN next week if I could have or need smaller ones.
