Fasting blood glucose targets here - http://www.diabetes.org.uk/Guide-to...ose_targets/?gclid=CJiVy7O8s60CFSEhtAodAlFenQ

Normal levels for someone without diabetes are:
3.5?5.5mmol/l* before meals
less than 8mmol/l, 2 hours after meals.
*millimoles per litre: a measurement of the concentration of a substance in a given amount of liquid

However, a single blood glucose finger prick reading is never used for diagnosis. If your son has any other symptoms, or you have any concerns, you should take him to GP and explain what you have noticed / recorded.

Acetone on breath is usually described as smelling like pear drops, not just sweet.
