Hi

I am not sure but think I may have tried this in hospital but not sure if it was passion fruit. The skin was quite firm and purple to black in colour and inside looked full of colourful seeds and when I ate it the taste blew my head off nearly - was gorgeous? Was it passion fruit? The strawberries they gave me too were delicious!

Thank you very much for this Copepod - I am sure it was Passion fruit now!

Does anyone know what to look for to buy it when it is full of flavour?

I can't say what they are like in the UK. Here they should be wrinkly, sort of like a coarse golf ball texture, brown but not too soft.

I halve them and scoop the pulp from both halves into a cup of home-made Greek-style yoghurt. It may need some sweetener, but not usually. Yum.

I used to love them on Pavlova, but those are history for me now.

Hi All,

Well I bought some yesterday!
I cut them into quarters and then just sort of slurp the inside out of the skin - gorgeous - a blast to my tastebuds. Also bought some strawberries that smell delicious too.
It is nice to have found a new fruit for when the boredom sets in!!

I used to have them a lot in fruit salads, and use them in smoothies, they love strawberries. Add a wee touch of black pepper to make them really zing.

Black pepper? Never heard of that! I love them. We often put them in fruit salad as well. Fruit salad is an occasional treat though as it is so full of quick carbs.

They are usually ripe when they are wrinkly. i say usually as there are different types and some stay smoother.
