What do you put in your sharps box???

Only sharps go in my sharps bin, though getting as bad as others :D a lancet seams to last forever these days.

+1 for only sharp things. Currently for me:

Used lancets (once in a blue moon!)
Reservoir filler double-spiky thing
Snipped off ends of Medtronic tubing/connectors that have a sharp in them
Enlite sensor needle thing (though this is covered/enclosed so probably fine)

My only addition is obviously medical-looking things that might give someone a bit of anxiety if they came into contact with them so used infusion sets and sensors.

I’ve asked in clinic about strips and they were happy for them to go n household waste for the reasons suggested already.

I dismantle Libre applicators to put the sharp from them in too, then split the plastic according to our local rules do what is and isn’t recyclable.

There’s nothing sharper and far more danger from a used razor blade. I put them in the paper envelope they come in and pop them in a tin in the metal recycling. Men who use traditional shaving methods don’t have sharps boxes, so I think folk are getting a bit paranoid. Like needles, razor blades aren’t contaminated.

And as has been said, of it’s blood you’re bothered about, do you put sanitary towels or used plasters in a clinical waste bin?
