hiya, im sure you have been asked this question before, what do you all eat for lunch?
at the moment im tending to stick very much to what i know.
i tend to have a chicken or ham sandwich, with a mug of carrot and lentil weightwatchers soup, and an apple.
some days i can have a slump about 4 in the afternoon, so i have a packet of special K bites and a drink. 🙂

............i tend to have a chicken or ham sandwich................
Hi again scarletangel,

I used to have ham, turkey or chicken sandwich too until I started testing and learnt what bread did to elevate my blood glucose levels so I don't eat sandwiches very often these days - in fact, hardly ever at all.

These days, I eat a salad with meat, fish or cheese.

Alternatively, I eat meat steak such as beef or gammon with salad and/or vegetables - especially, if I'm eating out of the house in pubs etc.

Best wishes - John

Generally salad, 1 slice of bread and 2 bits of fruit - until I realise I have left said items sitting in the kitchen, when I have soup and bread from the dinner hall instead.

I tend to use the same sandwich shop because their products have nutritional values posted on a website. I either have a salad - 4g carbs, should be healthy but the mayo and dressing push calories up above 400 or a salmon sandwich (about 38g carbs, 330 calories). The salad is a nice change but the sandwich produces a more consistent blood sugar throughout the afternoon, particularly if I have been doing a lot of exercise over the preceding days. The sandwich is also useful if I am planning exercise in the afternoon or evening. (I say that having, after 30 years of diabetes, finally realised that on distance sports events, it isn't all about controlling blood sugars. I did a long distance cycling event, controlled the blood sugars reasonably well but made a mess of nutrition meaning I ran out of steam. There followed a painful couple of hours.)
I don't know if it is trying to control diabetes or being dull that makes me use the same limited choices for lunch.

depends how hungry I am and what is on offer in the staff resteraunt. Somedays there it is a food poisoning spcial of recycled left overs...

I try to go for a healthy option, but don't always make it, and I go for a variety. I like some salads, a sandwich, if I'm not very hungry I go for a piece of fruit and a yoghurt just to take my pill and try to bring an apple or carot sticks back to my desk for the munchies later.

I tend to have something fishy like tuna or swordfish with salad. Other times i might have an omelette or a bowl of soup with that bread made with oats. I think oats are pretty good for keeping the cholesterol down so I have a slice most days. I usually follow it up with a plain yogurt and fruit. I'm new to Byetta and just getting used to not being hungry any more, it's wierd. I do find though that I get a bit low around 5.00 and if I'm not going to be eating until late I have a small something like a banana or a tiny cheese sandwich.

Couscus or pasta, a yoghurt and a biscuit help me get through the day and also give me some energy for early evening runs before tea 🙂

At the moment I am eating either a ham pitta or crackers and cheese spread, with fruit (strawberries, rasberries, kiwi and grapes), and a yogurt.
