Hello Lovelies
So I have almond flour in my cupboard but I have no idea what to make with it . Can anyone give me advice and ideas on what to make with it ?? Please and Thankyou

Muffins
Bread
Anything that you can use normal flour.
Just need to add baking powder.

What type of muffins ?
Thankyou for the idea 🙂
Usually involving sweetcorn, cheese, ham, spring onions, and a dash of mustard.
I don't have a recipe, I just mix up a batter, and add things.
I also use a mix, sometimes normal flour, chickpea flour, coconut flour, corn flour, they all bring a different taste and texture.

I use almond flour to make keto desserts. I have made today a cheesecake - add melted butter to almond flour until you get a crumbly mixture and line a dish with the mixture. Mix some erythritol into cream cheese with cinnamon/ vanilla if required. Spoon this mixture over the crumbly base mixture. Top with a few berries. Enjoy!

Thankyou Travellor , I might have to buy some Mushrooms and do this . Because there’s days where I cannot be bothered eating at all .

That sounds delicious . And Thankyou so much I’ll defiantly make this .

These were adapted from the basic (sweet) cake mix, in which cheese would have been inappropriate... but if it works... Some people have used low fat yoghurt successfully, but of course that may have a few more carbs.

Not usually any more.
They're fairly similar, I've even come across ones with less.
It depends on the brand I guess.

@Jacinta (Australian) scroll down on that page and you should see the recipe and the subsequent discussion which has lots of people contributing ideas for other savoury flavours. You can also make them sweet. When the members of DSF had their meets there was always a selection of those muffins on offer. @trophywench brought some particularly delicious ones.

If you still can't see it, then let me know and I will post the recipe on here, but it'd be a pity to miss out on the other suggestions.

ISTR blue stilton & red onion, with a sort of parmesan crust on top ..... and do you remember 'someone' making savoury ones and placing a cherry tomato on the top (like a glace cherry on a sweet one) where the tomato sank into the muffin? Still tasted lovely!

The sinking tomato was mine. Claire got hers to stay on top. There were all manner of flavours. Sun dried tomato and basil, feta and olive, stilton and pear.

I know I’ve said this before, but you shouldn’t regard almonds as a standard cooking resource. Regard it is a luxury item for specific recipes that require it. Every single almond needs 3.5 litres of water to grow. Around 80% of our almonds come from California, which is in a constant drought state. So the almond growers are tapping into underground aquifers, which are a finite resource. Almonds are already getting more expensive, and soon will be rare treat.

Better to experiment with pea flour, far better for the environment, and higher in fibre so good for the old gut biome.

And if you can't empathize with the water situation, billions of bees are exposed to tones of pesticides whilst being shipped around the USA each year to pollenate these plants and trees to provide us with these foods and are dying because of this exposure.
Not saying don't ever eat almonds or almond products including almond milk, but do so occasionally and thoughtfully rather than as everyday items. There is a massive environmental impact from them.

Lets remember members shouldn't be made to feel guilty about anything just because of personal views xx

Many people are not aware of the environmental impact of almond growing and the members of this forum do tend to encourage the use of almond products particularly, so I feel it is important to balance that with knowledge of the issues.

I did say that I was not suggesting people don't use almond products, but just to be cautious and thoughtful of that use.

IIRC all the 'flours' that seem to be available now were not easily available back when that recipe was popular. If, in fact, they'd ever been heard of. Nor had the problems with Almond growing. So perhaps people should be aware and try to find alternatives now. To be fair Jocasta asked for recipes for almond flour as she has some.
