What are you giving up for Lent?

I used to give up sweets in my younger days. You can sod that for a game, me and my jelly babies are inseparable. Diabetics are exempt from Lent, and all the other fasting holy days in any event. A pope said so, so it must be right.

If you remember, Lent exists because JC spent 40 days and nights fasting in the desert with no food or drink, apparently. This is, of course, impossible in human terms. 5 days without drink will do for you. The David Blaine of his day.😎

If I give up anything else I'll starve to death, there's nothing left to give up!

Re the Irish thing, that's me in reverse, every year "The Irishman" gives up alcohol for lent then he gets more and more grumpy until we get to Easter when he goes on a total bender.
I say he has a well balanced personality, the Vatican chip on one shoulder and the Irish chip on the other!

So far since diagnosis I've given up drinking, smoking and fizzy drinks so I'm with the folk that are giving up nothing 🙂 x
