I live in Dorset and wondered if there is anyone else out there who is a country bumpkin like me... 😎 and would like to meet up somewhere in the south west.

I would consider coming and staying somewhere overnight. Love that part of the world.

I LOVE the countryside, I live in Hampshire, so not too far away on the train. What sort of day would people like it to be, active, walking, places of interest to visit or sitting in a pub? Have you thought of anything yet, or is it too early to think of that? Dorset is a beautiful county :D

from Glasgow - it is a bit far

I'm a Somerset bumpkin:D

So not that far off...

As long as a meet isn't in Bournemouth I shall be fine.. As every time I visited Bournemouth a mishap of some sort has happened😱

I'm on the Isle of Wight so will be ok for me, the closest so far. 🙂

Nellie Crumbs in wareham bring back some childhood memories indeed, of spending summers down at Studland bay camping...

Yeah, me too... that's where I met my wife 😛

I'm in Devon and would love to join a meet-up. Northerner did mention Bristol in March, IIRC.

Theres never been any interest in a meet in the South West in the past. We had one in Taunton last May, and just 2 couples turned up from Somerset and Northerner and I.
Things might have changed now with so many knew members joining the group, and I will be happy to support you if at all posible.

First time

I went to Bournemouth, when I was around about 10'ish, we were on holiday at Studland, so caught a train from Wareham to Bournemouth, on the way home train broke down in the middle of nowhere and had to wait until the next train caught us up (well over an hour later) to shunt us into Wareham station

2nd time

With my first husband in '85 my friends carnival club had arranged a day/night out to watch Russ Abbort's summer show filled 3 coaches... The show was dismal and when we went to go home, one of the coaches had lost it's brakes so a decision was made rather than leave a coach load in Bournemouth waiting for a replacement to travel from Bridgwater, they would put the brakeless coach in between the two other coaches and travel home at a snails pace so a 90mile journey took hours, got home around 4am..

3rd time

weren't until the 98 with Les (second husband)

I drove up journey fine, but has we got into Bournemouth my engine started to overheated, just about made it to a carpark.. Spent most of the day going to and throw the carpark and public toilets, with a 2lt bottle of water filling the car up, then home with the hope we'd make it back..

Last time

2006

We were camping in the New Forest (just outside Lyndhurst) not sure what we needed to venture into Bournemouth though, but we managed to find a shop in Christchurch, so didn't got get there, but when we returned to the campsite , there had been a downpour and I had left the kitchen window air vent open on the trailer tent, so my kitchen unit was filled with water..

Not been back to Bournemouth area since

We live in Bournemouth -would be very interested in a meet up assuming we could get there -doesn't have to be in Bournemouth if people are allergic :D

Would rather it was during daytime and weekend - and nothing too energetic to put K off as would like her to come too if poss.

I'm very new to this diabetes lark and would be really pleased to meet up with you people in the south west. I agree with the people who don't want to go to Bournemouth - even though I live in Dorchester! :D

One suggestion would be Poundbury (Prince Charles' 'model village' on the outskirts of Dorchester). There's a pub and a variety of coffee places. Whether you love Poundbury or hate it, it's interesting!

I'm pretty flexible as to days and times. 🙂
