Welcome to the 'Diabetes in School' Board

Getting the right care in school to support the management of diabetes can be challenging.

The ‘Diabetes in School’ board is the place for parents or anyone else, to ask questions about getting the best care in school and ultimately getting an adequate care plan in place to facilitate this.

Diabetes in School Hosts

Our Care in School Helpline was a dedicated service, led by volunteers who had personal experiences related to diabetes care in school, some as parents of children with T1 and others as teachers living with type 1 themselves.

Dedicated funding for this service came to an end, however the need for the practical and peer support for parents, was very much still required.

We’re delighted that some of these trained, peer-volunteers continue to offer their support as Diabetes in School Hosts, as a part of this forum community.

Keep supporting!

Whatever your experience of diabetes or school - your opinion and support remains important! The vast range of knowledge offered from all members of this forum, is a vital element of the help available and this variety is what gives strength to the support provided by you all.

Be nice if this thread reflected teachers in school with diabetes....
I know that this was posted ages ago, but there is absolutely no reason why this part of the forum can’t represent teachers in schools. I will start a new thread.

It would be great if this discussion thread included contributions and experiences from teachers who have diabetes while working in schools. Their insights and stories could be valuable for understanding the unique challenges and strategies they use to manage diabetes in an educational setting.
