WE ARE ON LOCKDOWN...

I put myself in isolation a few days ago for self protection reasons. There is no problem with it for me. Let’s face it, some of us may well already have it, but not showing or feeling symptoms.

if you don’t want to risk it, stay indoors, simples!

Feelings of disbelief hubby’s work has closed the store he works in but is sending all staff 20miles away to work in a warehouse with others from x amount of stores, this is not putting safe measures in for their staff and their families
Crazy :(

Turns out I didn’t get the whole story. The manager was sent to a call centre but had self isolated as partner is pregnant and my hubby’s been sent to a warehouse to test and clean equipment with a “few others” while the favourites are sent home with 80% pay. Fuming doesn’t cut it I’m so tempted to plaster and shame the company all over social media but have to bite my tongue for now

went out for the first time since lock down only for essentials, good to see our local shop using social distance rules and people sticking to it including myself.

worry now as when i came back a car pulled up with a nurse in it donned all protective gear and only came to our house to obtain blood samples from my partner, the trouble is i wasn't aware any bloods were needed so now am worried sick in case it comes back as COVID-19.

the problem i have got is that i am the only one who can get essential food in and if it does come back then we are politely stuffed.

the nurse told me that they would try and get help so far we have been offered nothing since the panic buying began and have no family or friends to speak of who could help.

only time will tell now

Is there no local initiative to deliver things to the housebound? Here, the local community centre is co-ordinating volunteers, and my son who lives in a largish town says he had a flyer from the local Lions saying they were doing this. Is their a voluntary group such as the Rotary club or Lions near you? If not, the government are setting up a volunteering scheme.

Here the help is being organised via the District Council - might be an idea to look at their website?

sorry for not coming back on yesterday after typing the message there was a loud noise from the desktop and the fan went inside it.

luckily i had bought a windows 10 be it slow and as i hadn't used it for over a year endless updates including bios.

any way back on to subject the first thing to go around here and close was our local community centre, the problem with this is that there are loads of OAP bungalows and sadly many have been left to defend for themselves.

it was sad to see yesterday an old lady carrying 2 bags of shopping.

if it does come to the nitty gritty i think someone put a link on here for the GOV website to get help so will be looking in to that.

still very worried about the blood tests though and just praying the phone doesn't ring some time today.

We have been in self isolation for the past month. Only venture out to the county hospital cancer care unit. Yesterday was my partner's first chemo session. She has to have two separate treatments. Long day, set out at 7 am for early appointment. Hospital nearly 40 miles away. Road traffic considerably lighter, mostly commercial. Hospital carpark certainly fewer vehicles. We went to hospital on Monday being informed that chemo would start then, involving overnight stay. No bed available hence yesterday's appointment. On Monday, hospital had stepped up precautions with more social distancing measures in place. Yesterday heightened security, guards on entrances, staff having to use keypads or cards to enter, only patients allowed to enter, not accompanying persons. Every member of staff wearing PPE including receptionists. They are trying to accommodate as many caner patients as possible before the pandemic overwhelms them. All have been trained to deal with the expected surge in virus cases and they are as a consequence preparing for the worst.
As I drove to collect her at 4pm road blocks were in place.
Next planned appointment in mid April and in the meantime given enough meds and antibiotics until that date.
Even more vital that we self isolate due to my partner's vulnerability.

In the meantime... I've just used the last of my diabetes main meds. despite ordering repeats in good time, the surgery has been difficult to contact , the pharmacy on much shorter hours and have had no response to my emails.
I cannot go out, so I'm going to try and make contact with local support group.
I haven't posted on this forum for a while. I have read that some of the longstanding members are 'bored' with the coronavirus threads and will rest from posting on this forum. Shame on them for being arrogant enough to dismiss the one thing that is bringing literally the whole world to it's knees. We should ALL be showing warmth and compassion to others in a genuinely serious situation that affects EVERY member of society.

I don't know about bored. Some of us don't want everything just to be about c19. Nothing to do with being arrogant for not spending time reading or posting about C19. Nor should it be the required way to demonstrate to other we are showing warmth or compassion.
Yesterday was my partner's first chemo session.
I hope they're not too ill. Ugh never know how to thrase this sort of thing.

well at last some good news out of the gloom, i managed this morning to get a delivery slot with Asda not for a little while but can manage with a local shop and then when the time nears i can amend to the order.

lets hope that this is the first sign of people settling down a little, got to applause my local shop for keeping things going in very tough times.

Defently settling down.

Butchers had queue outside due to one in one out, only dozen or so waiting, staff on door were asking customers to use trolley to keep distance from others in front, before handing trolley over they were spraying handle with disinfectant & wiping dry. Passing Morrisons on way back & only about 20 people waiting in queue.
