saw surgery diabetes nurse today and asked if I could now have some test strips and lancets on perscription as getting expensive as now on basal bolus insulin. I told her the three meters I have got, accu chek mobile, glucomen lx plus and contour next usb to which she replied that all those strips were too expensive. She said I could have a wave sense jazz wireless, 150 strips a month and lancets no problem. It's a nice small meter, smaller than the other three. It also links via an app to my iPhone and according to the info it will link with android as well. This means it will talk over your blood sugar readings to the phone via Bluetooth, you can also record insulin doses and carb values although you have to enter these manually, easy to do. The pricker feels flimsy but is OK to use so at moment happy with my day's work . Has anyone got any experience of this meter?

I had one of these. It seems to be a common one used when surgeries are changing meters for everyone. Presumably it's down to cost. To be fair although it felt a bit flimsy it was okay. Plus points are it's small and the blood drop needed is also small. The downside was it doesn't like cooler temperatures - I don't mean freezing cold, just cool. I wasted loads of strips with error messages saying it was too cold. A false economy in my opinion.

I used it for about 3 years and then on one my appointments with the DN at the surgery she asked me what meter I was using. When I said the Wavesense Jazz she said oh they're rubbish (in spite of the fact it was issued by the surgery in the first place!!) She then gave me a Freestyle Optium Neo which is an okay meter but the best bit is I can use the strips in the Libre.
 
Mine dish out the omnitest 3 by b braun, they also said the strips for these are quite cheap
 
That Wavesense Jazz was one of the first meters that the mfr actually stated, met the new tighter testing parameters.

I was talking to a rep from there not long ago at an event we both attended - nice, knowledgeable chap actually - and he was at first trying to chat me up to use one, until I explained that wouldn't happen since I'm pumping! LOL
