Waterproof patches

Going on holiday to Italy at the end of the month. Looking for recommendations for the best waterproof patches for days at the pool and beach. Been looking at decorative ones as love the designs but are they any good? Also should I get the ones that go around my CGM or the ones that fully cover it? Thanks x

Which CGM do you use @JenB?

The Abbott engineers who developed Libre recommend keeping the central hole uncovered to allow the skin underneath the sensor to breathe.

I have generally used Opsite Flexifix or Hypafix if a sensor has needed any extra securing, but these are functional rather than decorative.

Thankfully my skin seems to bond with the adhesive really well, so I haven’t needed any kind of overtaping since I was restarting Dexcom G6s (which were fine for 10 days, but needed a little help for days 11-20). The Medtronic Simpleras I now use don’t life at all within their 7 day life.

I have a Libre 2 so thanks for the advice about not covering the hole. It was ones for swimming ion holiday that I’m most interested in as just worried about it being submerged and coming loose when in and out the water! So far it seems to be sticking well in normal day to day life x

30 mins submersion is the Abbott suggestion I think (though we have had reports from members / parents of kids who have had holidays “in and out of the pool for hours” with no problem.

Take plenty of spare sensors, and have a fab trip.

Hope you can find something that works well for you.

I seem to find it takes the adhesive about 12-24hrs to come up to full strength - so maybe be a little cautious with knocking/submerging soon after sensor change?

I think there are also skin prep sprays that can be used to aid adhesion (though I’ve never used them). SkinTac was a product that used to get mentioned.
