For the last couple of days, my prick testing numbers have been slightly higher at 6.1 as opposed to 5.4 / 4.9 etc. I looked at what foods I had been having when my numbers were lower and there was no change and the same with exercise. Then I thought of water and realised that although I’d not been particularly thirsty, I hadn’t been drinking that much water. So, is having enough fluids, especially water, likely to help bring down bg numbers? Is it a case of being well hydrated equals “dilution” of sugars in the blood?

I rarely get exactly the same numbers. 6.1 and 5.4 are not that widely different. All monitors have can error rate of around 15%.

Thank you @grovesy I just wondered because I’d not been drinking much. Today I have been and my numbers are more like I’d expect.

Your blood doesn't actually flow round your body that quick if you don't drink much. Always try and drink more water before you go for a blood test and if you or anyone ever donates blood, they want you all to drink at least half a lire of water whilst waiting, for that purpose so it flows better. So grovesey is correct about the allowed and expected rate of variance in results and really - so are you!

I’ve not heard of hydration being linked to changes in fingerstick BGs as much as it is with sensor glucose - though nothing would surprise me!
