Know Diabetes. Fight Diabetes
Staff member
Every one of you here has, at some point, found your way here and successfully learnt how to navigate your way around the messages and boards, ask questions and answer the questions of others. I would like to commend all of you with your efforts! (Although hopefully, many of you found this to be a simple process).

But, there is never any harm, in making things a little easier for people....

So, for those of you who are familiar with how our homepage looks, over the next few days, you may notice a few small changes, with some new resources, aimed at making things easier for our members and newbies.

So, watch this space... 🙂

Eek. Last time I heard that it was on the Parkinson’s forum. It’s very pretty now, but a sod to navigate. I’m sure that won’t happen here.🙂

One thing that does happen on that forum, which is open to public view, is that on the off-topic and social sections there is a padlock to prevent public viewing, with all other threads open for viewing. It makes the discussions more easy going, knowing they’ll be lightly monitored from the point of view of public offence. The cannabis oil thread is not locked, interestingly.

The pancreatitis forum, which I think is built out of meccano, isn’t open to public viewing at all. You have to log on. This might be because of the open discussion on hefty opiates all over the forum. I don’t really know.

I think its fair enough not being open other than an Intro page, until you register and join. If you are interested enough in the subject to want more info/help/insight and the forum is under the banner of something you feel honestly is trustworthy - and you have nothing to hide yourself - why on earth would you not bother registering?

Imagine a forum is your own ball. Would you lend it to another kid who you've never even seen before, let alone spoken to or known their name?

On another peer support forum nothing to do with diabetes I used to go on had a members only area called the tea room, many people used that area as they didn’t want their posts to show up on a search engine .

I’m sorry but I’m with @mikeyB , Eek ! on the forum above they tried to make things easier to navigate round it sure needed it, the only trouble was , we regulars spent weeks trying to get irksome problems sorted out.

Tbph Right from my first post I found this site the easiest one I’ve ever been on to find my way around.

Meant to say I feel the same as Jenny re not being open.
The only problem is newbies who really need the advise we regularly give, may not join because they can’t see what a friendly helpful bunch we really are.

I've been on a forum/social media site where you've to sign up to see anything. The thing with that is, like any other forum (including this one), anyone can sign up.
One problem for all us honest people is all the spam emails we get cause we've had to use an email address to sign up. Some sites are now insisting on actual phone numbers too. (They send a code to make sure. Google does this for new email addresses.) I've been having enough telesales as it is!
