Thanks Lin... I've made a note of the Echo pen to mention it to the nurse when I see her next week... the list of concerns/questions is growing by the day! Have you ever considered a pump, or is that usually only for T1? Something else that's on the list. I like the 'I am mostly a good girl' comment!
As far as I am aware pumps are not for us..... but I may be wrong perhaps @everydayupsanddowns or @trophywench will know.
 
It’s not impossible for someone with T2 to get access to pump therapy, but it is very VERY unlikely. This may change in the future, but at present there isn’t much clinical evidence or a funding pathway to support it in all but the rarest of circumstances.

Pulses do contain quite a lot of carbs but some people can tolerate them whilst others can't, which is why using a blood glucose meter is so helpful. They are a healthy slow release source, so if your system will tolerate them and you enjoy them then go for it. If you get a bad spike, try reducing the portion size until you find a level at which you can get away with them.
