I was really hungry yesterday and ate most of a packet of walnuts. I tested a bit later and had one of my lowest readings ever (7 - that's low for me at the moment).

Any walnut fans out there?

I would say that is a very very good reading if you ate the whole pack!! 😱

Walnuts are one of the best nuts you can eat, as they are full of lovely minerals and also good fats - also very low carb, so a great snack! 🙂

That's good news about walnuts as I am munching my way through some at the moment. 🙂 🙂

I love walnuts ad like David find no effect on my blood sugars. 🙂

Walnuts have a high ratio of dietary fibre to simple sugar found in its carbohydrate mix. They'll do you more good than harm. As stated, there are many other useful minerals, particularly in the thin skin. Walnut means 'welsh nut' or 'foreign nut'. The romans called it a nux gallica, or gaulish nut. It's the nut Asterix would chose.

But ... they are high in calories due to all the fat (59%) so don't eat too many or you will put on weight. I used to sprinkle a few on my lunch time salad.

I make a farmhouse fruit cake and I always put in a packet of chopped walnuts. My sister is here to visit me next Tuesday for almost 2 weeks and she loves the cake too so tomorrow I will bake another.

I thought our squirrels were looking a bit podgy 🙂

I got myself some Naga chilli powder or ghost pepper. I'm still thinking about it! Can it really be as hot as they say? Was it really developed by the Indian military?

Let me tell you one thing about naga chilli....it is very hot....I buy them dried up from Mexico also with seeds so I can try and grow them but never seem to be able to...just not the right climate here...I use them in a lot of my food as I have a lot of friends that love my Curry's and the heat.

To give you an idea how hot they are check out this footage of You Tube.
