Waiting for diagnosis

That is a significant drop in one day and I wonder if they have started you off on slightly too high a dose. The idea is to bring your levels down into range slowly over a matter of weeks not 24hours, as that can really put a strain on your fine capillary blood vessels in your eyes. Not saying it will damage your eyes but it is better to play it safe. You may also be at risk of hypo by the time you have another day of the same insulin doses. Do make sure to keep hypo treatments to hand at all times and perhaps speak to your nurse for some reassurance or dose adjustment.

Really glad you were seen and have a diagnoses. That’s a quick drop in levels so you may feel a bit rough. Sometimes it’s preferable to taper BG down a bit but see how you feel.

Hi @JoRicco from a Bedworthian! Having said that, as we lived in Holbrooks so both registered with a Holbrooks GP and still with them, although their first port of call is normally UHCW, on occasions UHCW have decided Mary Ann is nearer for one of us or we've chosen to go there via Choose & Book - I had both my cataracts sorted there and also chose their A&E when I did my knee - all pre Covid. Knee needed operating on so I was in there for about a week and struggled with my D control, and asked to see a D Specialist Nurse for advice, which I did and they were very helpful. I was clueless how to handle it diabetes wise cos despite being nearly 70 at the time - since it was the first time in my life that I've ever broken a bone! Husband has had quite a few outpatients appointments there with his own medical problems and has just this week been referred back there to have his 3 monthly ultrasound scans for his AAA - which was actually accidentally discovered there when he was sent there with summat entirely different during the early months of Covid - so neither of us have any complaints about em, anyway.
