Here goes for my first three month appointment.. actually four months but I guess that's pretty good..
My reaction to carbs and insulin has gone all to hell over the last couple of weeks so it will be interesting to hear what advice I get. My guess is the honeymoon period ended abruptly and I am having to learn all over again.. coincidence that it happened when the weather warmed up? The novorapid has slowed down even more, 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours before anything happens.. and maybe there was a little bit of natural insulin helping out but it now looks like the basal insulin is not handling anything that the Nv is missing.
What I am getting is a decent low reading first thing in the morning if I haven't eaten anything from about 7 pm previously, I put in a dose of Nv and wait as long as I can.. eat and go. Usually this gives me a rise and fall that stays in range (4-7) but when the Nv gives up, which it does quite suddenly, the rise again (hopefully not above 7) stays up there all morning and into the afternoon, unless I am particularly active, then I guess the basal does get shaken up and takes a couple of 0. something mmol out of the blood.
I need to hear what the specialists have to say first, then if the real specialists.. you!..can suggest anything I would be grateful.. my plan at the moment is make as good a calculation as I can as far as a bolus dose goes, and perhaps inject 90% of that as early as I can, then the last 10% (plus any extra) after eating..
Better get to my appointment.. pretty sure I have made an improvement over the first few months..

🙂Good luck hope its all good news

Good luck.

Good luck

Will wait and see what clinic say - change of fast acting sounds on the cards - some people need 20 or 30 minutes 'lead time' but 90 is ridiculous.

Thank you all Jenny, @Grannylorraine, Wayne, @Bubbsie , @Zillah (you still get to keep your ⭐️..)
Gone from 11.1% to 5.6. Or 98mmol/mol to 37.7.. not that I am relating to these numbers at all given that the day to day readings are mmol/L but whatever.. it's good, normal in fact..So, doctor and nurse were happy and couldn't wait to kick me out, spent perhaps 15 minutes in there! I did get a chance to ask some questions and the nurse got a chance to grill me a bit to see if we were both on the same page.. basically I shouldn't stress about exact numbers but look for trends ( I do, I buy libre sensors.. "oh you can't have them"...) and my insulin doesn't appear to be as efficient as it could be ("there is a different version but you can't have that..")
I am painting a slightly different picture than how it really went but essentially the tools I need aren't provided so well done and hope the money doesn't run out!
There is a good chance that things are changing soon on the prescription side, and to be fair to all concerned the support they offered is fine.. it's just that I don't need most of what is offered at "this stage.."
seems like I tick the bmi box so the doctor doesn't have anything to say, I had some questions that the nurse said were outside of her remit.. so I am back to winging it for the most part until I gather enough information about myself that I don't need to ask anyone anything..

Well that's the NHS covered.. I am being a bit misleading, I left feeling fairly upbeat but also feeling I have cheated somewhat, I got a good result but not entirely sure how..
thank you all for being here, I think that the dialogue here is going to be the most valuable contribution anyone can get. Still got my L plates for now..

I have no idea how you did it Christophe...I'm type 2...I know so little about insulin...or Type 1 in fact...however you did it you did it well...fantastic result I'd be absolutely chuffed if I were you...amazing how they recommend different treatments...drugs...then say but they're not available...classic NHS...you obviously worked hard...it shows...well done.

Thank you Bubbsie.. I guess I am doing what I think is right but I am not sure if I understand it.. there is a bit of a leap in the dark feeling every time I dial up a shot of insulin..
And you know what?.. I am a bit chuffed..

Great results, you should be chuffed. Did they mention Fiasp as an alternative insulin? Much quicker acting than the Novorapid. Here they are offering it to people as a trial. Do they do the DAFNE course in your area?

Yes.. Fiasp was mentioned, dafne and the libre were all flagged up as being potentially useful to me. Not able to prescribe or offer any of them..!

I have T1 friend who feels exactly the same as you christophe & she is a couple of years in...yes you should be chuffed...why not🙂

Here's to winging it then Christophe, you must be doing something right....well done and an A* for you too :D

Thank you @Bubbsie and @Zillah
I was thinking on the way home yesterday that I should have a cake to celebrate but I realised I didn't actually want a cake..I had malbec instead which seems to have perked up my reaction to insulin! Pretty sure this doesn't go in the doing something right category.. but as a one off, I will take it..
Hope you all have good days whatever you are doing.

Chris

There's nothing wrong with a little celebrating chirstophe...a well deserved treat...even a small alcoholic one?...my go to is a large Gin & Tonic...thank you don't mind if I do😉

My go to treat would be dark chocolate and brandy- although with a fatty liver that'll be less often lol ...... 🙄

Is it bad that I'm sitting at work thinking how much more I would prefer to be sitting in my garden with a G&T Haha....too early ??😎

No not at all Zilah...brilliant concept however maybe a little 'perverse' at 08:30 in the morning😉...I'm planning to do that this evening...and looking forward to it...oddly enough I always have a better morning 'score' after a couple of G & T's.

How did these girls turn it into a drinking fest..??
Shaking head emoji..

Actually good on you .. hope you get your feet up in the sun and have a Sipsmith for Bubbs if I remember right.. if Zillah can try Brockmans then all is right!
