Here goes for my first three month appointment.. actually four months but I guess that's pretty good..
My reaction to carbs and insulin has gone all to hell over the last couple of weeks so it will be interesting to hear what advice I get. My guess is the honeymoon period ended abruptly and I am having to learn all over again.. coincidence that it happened when the weather warmed up? The novorapid has slowed down even more, 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours before anything happens.. and maybe there was a little bit of natural insulin helping out but it now looks like the basal insulin is not handling anything that the Nv is missing.
What I am getting is a decent low reading first thing in the morning if I haven't eaten anything from about 7 pm previously, I put in a dose of Nv and wait as long as I can.. eat and go. Usually this gives me a rise and fall that stays in range (4-7) but when the Nv gives up, which it does quite suddenly, the rise again (hopefully not above 7) stays up there all morning and into the afternoon, unless I am particularly active, then I guess the basal does get shaken up and takes a couple of 0. something mmol out of the blood.
I need to hear what the specialists have to say first, then if the real specialists.. you!..can suggest anything I would be grateful.. my plan at the moment is make as good a calculation as I can as far as a bolus dose goes, and perhaps inject 90% of that as early as I can, then the last 10% (plus any extra) after eating..
Better get to my appointment.. pretty sure I have made an improvement over the first few months..
