Went to see my GP yesterday following my HBA1C test which wasup from 52 to 54. He was generally very pleased with that, and happy with the weight loss and told me to cary on with the medication and diet process. Only unusual thing was that nobody did a foot check as part of my review this year.

I have always had a foot check as part of my annual review since 2010. This includes a sound probe to detect the pulse and touch test to check the reaction of the nerves on the soles. I believe every Type 2 diabetic should have these. Maybe it was an oversight? Suggest you discuss with your surgery.

I have to make a separate appointment with the nurse for foot check, blood pressure etc.

I've been type1 for almost 55 years and never had a foot check.

For me, GP's only do foot check if you have specifically booked a 30min appointment. Otherwise it is a DN.
They say not enough time to fit it in during a normal 10min appointment.

As with most things Diabetic it varies. I have read in some areas people have Retinal Screening and Foot Checks at the same time.

I always have my feet checked annually along with BP and weight, by a GP surgery nurse - the only direct input the surgery has in my diabetes. I thought annual toe tickling was one of the things they needed to tick the box for, for all diabetic patients?

They did the blood pressure but not the feet!

I rang my surgery yesterday and they said it's a different nurse who does the foot check, not the one who does the blood pressure, so I had to make another appointment for 27th December for a foot check. What a palaver!

Glad you got to the bottom of it Edgar, you’ll know to request both next time to save you having to go in twice!

I had my HbA1c results thru and after I had to book an appt with the Nurse for review where I get my tootsies tickled, blood press, weight done at the same time. My Health Centre is great.....for now.....

Had my foot review yesterday. First thing the nurse said that my feet were in excellent condition😛. My pulses were really strong and both feet were very soft. I explained that they are washed and moisturised daily. She really was waxing lyrical so i must be doing something right!,. Happy New Year everyone and let's all step into 2020 with confidence😎

Great to hear Edgar!
