Hi Amber, I'm sorry you are having such a frightening time . As everyone else has said it absolutely does not need to be like this. It isn't normal to have so many serious hypos and the only way to start to sort it is to get him to make contact with his diabetes team, explain what is happening.and get advice on taking control.
They will want to help as it is a very serious situation to be in and from my experience of losing hypo awareness they will work with him to get stability and the best control he can. It is achievable and the relief from becoming self reliant and feeling safer in your own skin is worth every bit of effort it takes. There is some amazing technology now for monitoring blood sugar which enables you to know where you are around the clock and lets you treat hypos before they become serious.
For your sake and his please get him to seek advice and fast. There's every reason to hope for a happy future where you can move out together but it does require dedicated effort and management to get to a more stable place.
