I think I've got a verruca, should I treat it myself or see the doc/nurse?
Thought so. I'm seeing D nurse next week so I'll get her to check to see if it is a verruca cos I've never had one before. You need to see a podiatrist/chiropodist.
Best see a podiatrist if you can, @scousebird. I've got what my nurse thought might be a verruca but which the podiatry peeps say is a callus, ie a spot of hard skin on the ball of my foot. They see me periodically and scrape it away, but don't think it will ever go away entirely.Thought so. That's very interesting! What do you do when they are inactive, as mine seem to be?I used to suffer with verrucas/warts which I had burnt off only for them to return. I then read you should only treat them when virus is active in body i.e. more appear or the hard skin covering it gets bigger. I then put some bazzuka extra strength on only one and they all disappeared. Thought it a fluke so tried putting it on one on my daughters knee (she was asleep and only 6 at the time but had more warts growing on her hands at the time as well as two on her leg) and a day later she told me "mummy my warts have all disappeared" !! I couldn't believe there was no sign on her hands of the warts.
You can also try natural remedies of rubbing a clove of garlic on them or trying Viks vapour rub - not sure how the Viks works but I use it on my corns!!
Nothing as apparently you can't kill an inactive virus and removing the "protective" hard, dead skin does nothing but give you sore feet as it grows back again to protect the "foreign" object. I had a wart burnt off twice on my hand that grew over my nail bed and back it came twice. Apparently you can "dig out" the foreign object which my hubby did on his hand when he had a wart but he had a gaping hole for quite a while!!!!That's very interesting! When I had mine treated it was frozen and this left quite a hole. Made walking difficult for a while: I preferred the veruca to be honest. Interested in the Vick cure and wondering if Olbas oil would be as good since I have loads of that!Nothing as apparently you can't kill an inactive virus and removing the "protective" hard, dead skin does nothing but give you sore feet as it grows back again to protect the "foreign" object. If I was you I would try rubbing some Vik vapour rub on over night or a garlic clove.
Oh do try the Olbas oil and let me know if it works. I have that by my bed to help me sleep as I suffer badly with hayfever and it's worse at night. When I had mine treated it was frozen and this left quite a hole. I too had one on my foot when I was at school, and my parents took me to some clinic to have it removed. The best thing about it all was that I was not allowed to do PE or Games for the rest of the term, so I sat in comfort looking after people's coats and things while they slogged around getting sweaty. I didn't enjoy school sportI got a verucca at school, it was a big thing back then, we missed swimming and had to go to the clinic and miss school. I didn't go to an appointment, just got fed-up of going, and they called me out of school and I had to travel all the way to the clinic! When I got a huge wart on my thumb I just rubbed it away, it was me or the wart and I was determined to win. 🙂
