Has anyone found that their BG increases when they need to use their inhalers. It is rare for me to need them but I have struggled to get below 15 all evening, which initially I had put down to dodgy carb counting, but after corrections, using the pen to be safe, I am still not dropping. My OH suggested it could be the inhalers, which I am needing after a woodworking course which involved a lot of sanding, and I did not wear my mask at the start.

I have now out on a TBR in response as well as an alarm to check in a couple of hours. I had forgotten how I’ll high BG make me feel.

I was warned when I started using inhalers ( which I currently use every day) that it might affect my BG levels as they contain steroids, but it doesn't seem to have had any impact 🙂 I use Symbicort.

I use Clenil modulite (sp) daily which doesn’t affect my BG
At the mo I need to use my Salbutamol daily too, and my BGs are a bit higher though it’s never affected me before.
I hope your BGs settles down soon

I do find my waking numbers higher if I have used my inhalers during the night, or if I forget myself and use my seretide (I have this rather than becotide) before taking my waking levels, but if I need my inhalers then I will use them and sod the bg levels as I need to breathe.

My sentiments entirely 🙂

Well all steroids usually cause the BG to increase plus don't forget the thing that causes you to need steroids is also increasing your BG so it's a vicious circle. Just have to 'firefight' with whatever weaponry happens to be available at the time.

The leaflet for Ventolin warns that it may increase your blood sugar, and I usually have an extra half a unit of bolus whenever I use mine (though I've been using it quite a lot lately and not needed the extra insulin, probably a weather thing!). I don't have a steroid one so no experience of that, but as others say they are supposed to increase BGL too.

Like Lin, I use a Clenil Modulite inhaler for my seasonal asthma and it doesn't affect my BG. I am currently taking it twice a day with no noticeable impact on levels. I haven't taken my Salbutamol since I was diagnosed, as the Clenil keeps things right as long as I don't forget to take it.
