Relationship to Diabetes

Hi hope this is not a silly question but last night I noticed Like a knotted raised area just below my right knee it looks like it could be a varicose vein although Im not absolutely sure I was just wondering if it could be anything to do with the diabetes or just a coincidence? It was definitely not there before last night.

Think it depends on weight/salt/genetics/hydration. Personally I am starting to have a couple on my inner feet and front leg but I am last hba1c 49 so its early days for me to say and I am 27. I guess it may depend on how long you know you have been diabetic and how it flows 🙂

I've only had D for 45 years so don't know everything - but I have never ever ever heard that varicose veins has anything whatsoever to do with diabetes! I do not believe the two have any connection frankly!

I am 62 and diagnosed since September although I had gestational diabetes in both my pregnancies but did not get varicose veins

More likely to be hereditary. I mentioned one to my GP recently, and she didn't raise Diabetes at all, her first question was, 'did your mother have them'

My mother did have them so I guess I'm quite lucky to get to 62 before I got one
