Are we diabetics more prone to UTI's? I'm taking a 2nd course of antibiotics because the first lot didn't clear my bout of cystitis. I had cystitis a few years ago but the recent one I has been worse than last time :(

All I know is that recurrent UTIs and thrush can be a sign of undiagnosed diabetes. That would suggest the answer is yes!

As Tina says Carina - yes, we are, although usually it is if sugar levels are higher than normal as this encourages the bacteria. Hope you are feeling better very soon 🙂

Yeah Carina im going through the same thing as you right now im also on my second lot on antibiotcis to clear a UTI, very frustrating indeed

oh Carina, that's horrible. used to suffer from it a lot in the past. Hope you are feeling much better soon....keep drinking the water!!

I hope that this time it clears up properly for you Carina. My sister is on her 2nd UTI in less than a month and I told her to get the doc to check for sugar. The doc replied "there's no sugar, just protein and glucose" does anyone understand that reply? Surely glucose = sugar?? My sister didn't query it which is a bit daft but I'm keeping an eye on her and if she gets another I'm going to instill into her that she must follow up on this otherwise I shall be stabbing her finger next time I see her!

Pretty much yeah.............I wouldn't expect the doctor to nitpick over the correctness of terminology.........

Hmm my sister said the doc seemed a bit dozy and not really sure what she was doing. May need to avoid that one in future!

I agree Northy. Must make a note of her name and only go see her when i know what is wrong with me and what antibiotic I require!! There are a few docs like that! I can't believe my sister didn't question her but she's a bit dozy at times too! There's a lot of it about it seems.

Yes we are apparently - how delightful. 🙄

I had a horrid UTI last week - also on antibiotics! They started shifting it quickly though and they gave me 7 days worth to hopefully get rid!

I have always been bothered in the past by recurrent UTI's and thrush (sorry TMI!), and now looking back it's made me realise it might/was linked into all this diabetes stuff too!

Cheers Katie I am I am I promise lol...im swimming in the stuff 🙂

how you feeling today Steff?? any better? (was going to do some astericks with drowning in water noises but I can't think how I'd spell them lol, but insert your own here... ______ lol)
