Quick recap - diagnosed type 2 in Sep 2015, didn't really address it or make any lifestyle changes. Fastforward to Sep 2017, had a tough speaking-to by DSN and started participating here. I've been trying to be fully low-carb and have increased exercise since September. Still overweight but it's coming down (102kg now from 114kg in Sep, height 6'3").

Previous HbA1c results:
Sep 16 - 83
Apr 17 - 74
Sep 17 - 64

New result this morning from blood test last week: 42.

GP was pleased but didn't mention reducing medication (currently on 2g/day Metformin SR). He also wants me on Lisinoprol.

An all-round well done and good for you, @nickinwarwick.😛:D😛 I bet you’re really pleased that all your hard work’s paid off. 🙂

Fabulous result Nick! Well done 🙂

Lisinopril is for treating blood pressure - do you know what yours was? My BP always goes high when taken at the GP's but I got a home monitor and it's fine at home! GP accepts it's 'white coat syndrome'.

Isn't it also sometimes used in patients with diabetes to protect the kidneys? do you know what your kidney results were like, Nick?

Fantastic result! Well done

Yes he sold it to me on the basis of protecting the kidneys. (Although I do have slightly high blood pressure as well).

Great result Nick, well done 🙂

Great result Nick and good idea starting on Lisinopril to protect your kidneys and stabilise your b/p. Lisinopril is also associated with lowering blood glucose in some people so worth taking. I’ve been taking it for years.

Fantastic result, well done.

Blimey, thank you everyone!

I know I’m finger testing but I wouldn’t mind a HbA1c every 3 months if I can. Keep the momentum going.

Fantastic result, well done! Yes, I can imagine it would be good for you to test every three months, hope you can get that done.
