@snowball12 thanks for supportive comments, gave me flash of an idea for BBC-Style programme where celebrity chefs go travelling and sampling global cuisines, but have to navigate the high street stores to cater to low sugar low carb low calorie weight management diet, be interesting to see how professionals fared with same task ha! Yes there are loads of useful online stores stocking health foods and wholefoods like Grape Tree, whole foods online, Amazon, local cash & carry wholesalers who offer home delivery and specialist stores like Steenbergs (still confused about loose leaf tea being good for us with polyphenols and antioxidants, but in moderation as too much caffeine makes heart conditions worse apparently, but at least I'm not guzzling fizzy sugary drinks any longer!), it's all work in progress, maybe one day "low carb" will be real option available in all catering and hospitality venues!

Lots of new vegan cafes and restaurants opening in Manchester after opening branches in London and Brighton I have visited recently, think the healthiest plant-based takeaway food I have found thus far has to be "What the pitta?" in the Northern Quarter, all vegan restaurant, falafel salad bowls are probably healthiest all-rounder menu option and naturally low carb low sugar choice, and open until 10pm on Friday Saturday Sunday! I will see you on the streets grabbing my falafel wrap to go, large and in charge, chunky yet funky, like Miss Latrice Royale ha! 😉

Hmmmmm, duck, a l'orange ? Hoisin sauce
What is wrong with Duck a L’Orange? I make it from scratch. Starts with a spoonful of home made marmalade.

Depends on the size of the spoon and what else you are eating!!!

We find all the (health) foods we need in the supermarkets, a good local butcher, and an excellent fish van on Thursdays. Mark you those French, Italian and Iberian markets are in a different league.

It's bit more complex with vegan and organic foods, yes there's "free from" section in most large supermarkets, but I want diverse range of healthier foods and the confidence that the manufacturers have certifications for vegan or organic claims and ideally I want to support small local producers and fairtrade farmers where I can, no doubt I will get the various myths about how expensive it is to not eat meat or fish or dairy products, but in my local area there's an organic vegan grocery run as worker's co-operative, and many vegan/vegetarian venues for eating out on all different budgets, I would much rather reach my long-term goal of remission via healthy eating, exercise and meds than give up, or listen to NHS advice which is very outdated and I am being forced to pay for private health screening for other medical issues my GP refuses to make referrals for, great!

I found Chris van Tulleken's book "Ultra Processed People" quite an eye opener. He also does a podcast series with his brother "A Thorough Examination with Drs Chris and Xand" and the whole first series covered just this subject.

The fact that Chris was prepared to carry out experiments on himself and his family was telling, and the impacts on the Amazonian tribes when UPFs were introduced to them are frightening.

Depends on the size of the spoon
Why?
@Pattidevans posted that the marmalade she uses in her dock a l'orange is made from scratch so not UPF and she has Type 1 diabetes which she treats with insulin so the amount of sugar in it is not going to be "scary".

I think her duck sounds wonderful and her marmalade sounds even better but I may be biased because I don't eat meat.

Why? Well I was joking, though it seems the combination of sugar and fat sets off cravings. Like cherry syrup and cream dessert I had the other day.
