Hi,

Does anybody know good UK websites for a GL list of foods with serving size and carb per serving? The one I've found is US site. On the site, there are many kinds of food from US, Australia, Philipines and China, which I don't think I will ever be able to buy from my local Morrison's!

Or, do you know any good book about GL? (I don't need recipes but just want a list of food) If so, please let me know then I will run to the library as I'm strapped for cash!:D

I've got 'THE BIG GL+diet PLANNER' by Fionna Hunter with Susannah Blake.
ISBN 1-84483-301-1 lisr price is ?12.99 but you can get one from Amazon for about ?3 or try the library.
The book is divided into three for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner so you can pick and choose your three meals for the day. Each meal is colour coded for GL rating.

Thank you

Hi Vicsetter,

I'll try my local library tomorrow!
Are you on GL diet now, Vic? Do you think it's easy to follow...

Sort of! I read the Dr Bernstein book and thought that made sense so cut right back on carbs. As time wore on and prompted lately by stopping taking Crestor I found that my bloods became more stable when I took some carbs regularly. SO now I have cereal for breakfast, a sandwich of seeded bread with chicken for lunch and a cooked meal at night, usually with 2 or 3 potatoes or pasta. If we have curry I have a small nan bread but no rice. If we eat out at a chinese I have noodles instead of rice. I've started eating oranges and apples as well, which is nice. It's a question of finding what is makes you happy without overdoing the blood sugar. Had steak and chips last night for my wedding anniversary (39yrs) and a cornetto for desert (found it in the freezer) and went to bed with a reading of 10. Woke up with 6.5 so I'm quite pleased at that. I generally hover between 5 and 7 during the day, going any lower is difficult with the DVLA driving rules.

Your breakie and lunch are quite same as mine. I cook evening meal for myself and my hub, who's just had mini stroke. It's normally chicken breast or fish. I miss Chinese take away but I haven't been brave enough to try it... I LOVE king prawn fried rice, which I think I'm allowed to have only 3 table spoons. I don't think I can stop after 3 spoonfuls!
It's great that you are treating yourself occasionally and managing your SB.
Happy anniversary for yesterday!!!
