Hi I was diagnosed approx 18 months ago, was Pre for quite some time, then went into Dia when I hit 50 ! Coped quite well , then it spiked again, so they Metaformed me, took that for 72 hrs and my kidneys felt like I’d been kicked by a Mule ( So stopped taking) been Self assessing with no meds until recently , when I had a non intentional 1.5 Stone weight loss ( Alarm Bells rang) saw GP put on Gliclazide ( No side effects) so happy , issued with a Smart 4Sure meter now taking own samples ...Hi @HARLEY, welcome to the forum.
Would you like to tell us a bit about yourself, how you came to be diagnosed, how you are coping and so on? Feel free to ask any questions so do fire away!
I have they considered that you may not be Type 2 but in fact LADA/Type1.5?Hi I was diagnosed approx 18 months ago, was Pre for quite some time, then went into Dia when I hit 50 ! Also when I asked the question as to the rapid weight loss, he said that definitely was caused by the Blood Sugar spike, up & down with Gizmo results was 14.2 this morning , so the Tabs are defo helping a lot ( Was 29.7 , when the practice nurse took a reading on the 15/12)Hi I was diagnosed approx 18 months ago, was Pre for quite some time, then went into Dia when I hit 50 ! Can you explain LADA 1.5 please?I have they considered that you may not be Type 2 but in fact LADA/Type1.5?
I suggest you do a forum search of LADA /Type 1.5, as your journey sounds more typical. It is a slow onset of basically Type 1.Also when I asked the question as to the rapid weight loss, he said that definitely was caused by the Blood Sugar spike, up & down with Gizmo results was 14.2 this morning , so the Tabs are defo helping a lot ( Was 29.7 , when the practice nurse took a reading on the 15/12)
Ah, missed that. @HARLEY, A spot reading of 29.7 and waking of 14.2 would suggest a HbA1c higher than 50. Something is going on and I would be wanting to get to the bottom of it, so maybe a bit of badgering is in order.@Docb - I read his post that he had, by the fact that he'd been told he'd stepped over the mark from Pre-D to D, when his result was 50.
